Bills Cowboys Betting – Dallas Claim Victory, But Buffalo Will Push Them
Sports betting players have an intriguing matchup on Sunday in Dallas, where the inconsistent Cowboys will take on an overachieving Buffalo squad coming off a big loss. Dallas has been pretty solid at home and they’ll take away a close victory, but don’t count out the Bills to cover the spread.
What: NFL Betting
When: Sunday, November 13th, 1:00 PM ET
Where: Cowboys Stadium, Dallas, TX
Pick: Buffalo Bills +5.5
Why Bet On Buffalo Bills (5-3 SU, 4-3-1 ATS)
The Bills looked flat in a 27-11 loss at home against the New York Jets, and they shot themselves in the foot with three turnovers. Ryan Fitzpatrick was 15-of-31 for 191 yards, a touchdown and a pair of picks, while Fred Jackson had 82 yards, but he also fumbled and if those two guys are off, the Bills are always going to have a tough time. The defense held up for a half, but it all fell apart in the third quarter, where they allowed 17 points. The Jets controlled the clock with their running game, racking up 126 yards, and that meant the Bills only held the ball for just over 22 minutes. Three turnovers in that short amount of time is a recipe for disaster, and you also have to consider that the Jets were coming off a bye. Now the Bills have to get it together quickly as they have three road games in a row that could end up spoiling their season; after Dallas, Buffalo will head to Miami and a road rematch with the Jets.
Left tackle Demetrius Bell (shoulder) is still out, kicker Rian Lindell (shoulder) will miss this game and defensive lineman Kyle Williams (Achilles) is gone for the season. Things are starting to go downhill for the Bills, who definitely punched above their weight early in the season and this could be a sign of them coming back to earth. It’s crucial that they get off to a good start in this road trip, but we’re not sure that will happen.
Why Bet On Dallas Cowboys (4-4 SU, 3-4-1 ATS)
Dallas barely failed to cover the NFL betting spread in a 23-13 win at home over Seattle in a game they really should have dominated. Tony Romo was 19-of-31 for 279 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the play-calling has clearly been scaled back, but the Cowboys can afford to do that as DeMarco Murray has come out of nowhere to give Dallas a ground game. Murray ran for 139 yards against the Seahawks, and now he has averaged 155.3 yards in three games since stepping into the starting role for an injured Felix Jones. The defense picked off Tarvaris Jackson three times, but they also allowed 162 yards on the ground and the Dallas run defense has really fallen off since Philadelphia carved them up in Week 8, sliding from the top-ranked rush defense all the way to tenth in the NFL. That is something that will have to change as Jackson is third in the league in rushing yards.
Receiver Miles Austin (hamstring) is still out for the Cowboys, but linebacker Sean Lee (wrist) should be back, which will really help the run defense. Lee was injured against the Eagles and while tried to go against the Seahawks, his injury wouldn’t allow him and he has been the best player on the defense this year outside of fellow linebacker DeMarcus Ware. Jones (ankle) also has a chance of playing, but the Cowboys would likely do well to keep him out until he is 100% as Murray can hold it down. The Cowboys are still within two games of the New York Giants in the NFC East despite not really playing well this season, and they have to pick it up heading into the second half of the season.
How It Will Play Out
Dallas is a 5.5-point NFL betting favorite at home against Buffalo, who are 1-2 SU and 0-1-1 ATS in three trips to “Big D”, with two games under the posted total. Dallas has been the home team in five meetings with Buffalo, but two of those came in the Super Bowl, and it didn’t end well for the Bills.
The Bills aren’t as good as people thought they were, but we’re not sure Dallas is that good, either. They have the talent, but they never put it all together for 60 minutes. Lee should help their run defense, but Fitzpatrick should be able to take advantage of a soft secondary. But the Buffalo defense is suspect as well, and the Dallas offense will be able to put enough points to win the game. When it comes to the spread, though, Buffalo will keep it close enough to cover for online betting players.
