Broncos Bengals Betting Preview - Owens, Tebow Debut
It is somewhat of a stretch to say that any game of the first week of the NFL preseason could be highly anticipated. However, if there is one that would take the cake, it would be the battle between Denver and Cincinnati. Two teams headed in opposite directions will clash to begin the 2010 preseason, with both expecting highly anticipated debuts.
NFL Betting: Denver Broncos @ Cincinnati Bengals
Why To Bet On The Broncos
The Denver Broncos are a drastically different team than the one we saw blow a 5-0 start to the 2010 season. Brandon Marshall, Peyton Hillis and Tony Scheffler are all gone. The cupboard is somewhat bare for the Broncos, though they have one thing to look forward to, Florida’s savior, Tim Tebow. Tebow is expected to make his debut in this game and try to push his name forward in the Denver quarterback battle. Denver may have a considerable edge in this game for that reason. Not just Tebow, but Brady Quinn, and Kyle Orton will both appear in the game. Quinn and Orton both have plenty of experience, and two of the three will appear in the game for at least a whole quarter. This alone may give Denver an edge, though they do have an identity to figure out.
Why To Bet on the Bengals
It is another case of two teams going in opposite directions. The main story for the Bengals is the addition of Antonio Bryant, and more recently Terrell Owens. The two were brought in to bolster a 26th ranked passing attack that fell short in the playoffs last season. We will get our first glimpse at both players, though in very limited action. One spot to look out for is running back. With Cedric Benson facing a potential NFL suspension, the Bengals will look for more out of Bernard Scott and Brian Leonard. The two may very well be competing for the starting job for the first few weeks, so expect them to get after it right away.
How the Game Will Play Out
While Cincy has the overall better team, the fact that Denver is going to be playing a skilled, experienced quarterback for the majority of the game is going to be too much to overcome. The presence of Tebow, and Brady Quinn, who likely will be in late in the game, will lead the Broncos to the victory. Take Denver in this one, though it may be one of the only times you back them all season.
