Chargers Cowboys Betting – Cowboys Make Preseason Home Debut Against Chargers
With quarterback Tony Romo returning from surgery, and the development of Stephen McGee, an interesting situation is beginning to creep into the picture for the Dallas Cowboys. Since his appointment as the starter a couple of seasons ago, through the tough playoff losses and constant peaks and valleys, there have been those that feel Romo is not the man for the job in Dallas. It doesn’t appear that there is any controversy as to who will start for head coach Jason Garrett this season, at least not for now.

NFL Betting Lines: Dallas Cowboys -2
The team the Cowboys will play this week in their second game of the preseason has no such question marks at quarterback, as Phillip Rivers represents the present and future of the San Diego Chargers. A gunslinger that can spread the field and fit the ball in to tight targets, Rivers is considered among the best in the game, but may not see more than a quarter of action this early in the preseason.
NFL Betting Preview: San Diego Chargers
Instead, the Chargers will continue to give more touches to youngest Scott Tolzien and veteran Billy Volek, who combined to throw for 103 yards in the team’s exhibition loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week. Volek is a capable backup if called upon, but San Diego would like to see more from Tolzien as he gets more opportunities this preseason. The Chargers reshaped their defense in the offseason and this could be the first game in which the tandem of Bob Sanders and Eric Weddle see the field. One of the biggest challenges for San Diego heading into this season was to address their woeful special teams units, which is something they did with a couple of key additions, as well as with the help of the new kickoff rules, which should provide a major sports betting boost.
NFL Betting Preview: Dallas Cowboys
McGee was the hero for the Cowboys in their opening win over the Denver Broncos, as he went 14-for-24 for 208 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-tying score with 15 seconds left to play in the final frame, before Dallas kicked the game-winning extra point. While the second defensive units of the Broncos could make any quarterback look good, Garrett is impressed with the play of McGee, and wants to see him continue to progress behind Romo and Jon Kitna. The starting defense held the Denver offense to just a field goal in the opener in one quarter of action, and will continue to try and be more nasty under new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The Cowboys will look to put on a sports betting bonus show for the home fans regardless of the importance of this game, as they look to begin a long season in which they hope to make up for what happened a year ago. Fans in Dallas can’t wait to see their team hit the field, and it should make for a fun environment with both starters on the field early, as the new Ryan defense goes up against the top-ranked offense from a year ago.NFL Betting Pick: Dallas Cowboys - 2
