Chargers Rams Betting – Chargers Look For First Road Win Sunday At St. Louis
Heading into the sixth week of the betting on NFL season, both the San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams are reeling following big losses, each of different varieties. The Chargers couldn’t solve the AFC West division-rival Oakland Raiders in a 35-27 loss, the latter’s second victory of the season. Meanwhile, despite showing progress over the past couple of weeks, the Rams were blown away on the road by the Detroit Lions 44-6 in a game featuring two of the worst teams of the past few years.
NFL Betting: San Diego Chargers @ St. Louis Rams
Online Sports Betting: Chargers - 8.5
While both teams are looking to rebound, the pressure will be greater on the Chargers, who, despite perennially fielding some of the most talented rosters in the league, seem to always fall short of their ultimate goal. San Diego is back on the road this season, and are looking to make some noise at the Edward Jones Dome.
Why To Bet On The Chargers?
Despite being just one game below .500, San Diego’s only two football betting wins have come against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Arizona Cardinals, both in home games. The Chargers are still winless on the road, and looking like a shadow of the team that won the AFC West the past couple of seasons. It is right around week six that San Diego usually rounds in to form however, as perennially slow starters and that shouldn’t change this year with the league’s number-one ranked passing offense guiding the way. Quarterback Phillip Rivers has put his stamp on the team and made fans forget the days where running back LaDanian Tomlinson was guiding the offense, and with a plethora of options at wide receiver the loss of Vincent Jackson hasn’t been as bad. San Diego ranks third against the pass, and seventh against the run which makes this team a bit of a rarity. It’s hard to remember a team that ranked in the top-ten on both offense and defense yet had a below-.500 record, so expect that to change very soon.
Why To Bet On The Rams?
The Rams have shown immaculate progress over the past couple of weeks, no doubt in big part due to first overall college football betting draft pick Sam Bradford leading the offense. St. Louis put together solid wins over the Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks in consecutive weeks before falling to the Lions, and should bounce back with a much better showing back in front of their home crowd. Running back Stephen Jackson will be relied on heavily to open things up even more for Bradford, while the defense will need to rise to the occasion against a talented Chargers’ offense.
How The Game Will Play Out
While the Rams have shown marked improvement this season, they are by no means ready for a challenge from the Chargers. San Diego gives St. Louis their second home loss, while clinching their first home win.
