The Chargers offense should see more time on the field in the third week of the preseason, which means they’ll be able to put some points on the board. With Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates, the Chargers have plenty of weapons. Among second stringers, the Chargers still have good weapons in Darren Sproles and Legedou Naannee, who should do well against the Falcons backups.

For the Falcons, they have a good set of first stringers but they are thin behind it. The Falcons lack good backups behind Matt Ryan and Roddy White. Chris Redman and D.J. Shockley are only marginal contributors at quarterback.

The story is similar here on defense, as NFL betting sharps know that the Chargers again have better first stringers and more capable backups than the Falcons do. The Chargers have lots of depth at linebacker as well, so they’ll have good players like Jyles Tucker, Brandon Siler and Larry English stepping in when Shawne Merriman hits the bench. They also have some good backups in the secondary.

As for the Falcons, they are growing into a tougher defense but they lack some parts right now. Particularly at cornerback, where Chris Houston may be out, the Falcons could have trouble matching up.
