Chiefs vs Eagles Odds - Whether it’s McNabb, Vick or Kolb, Eagles will still expose Chiefs
The Chiefs vs Eagles odds present an interesting dilemma for sportsbook odds makers this week. Eagles starting quarterback Donovan McNabb is questionable with a rib injury and Michael Vick is ready to make his regular season return, but Kevin Kolb will start if McNabb is out. No matter what, the Eagles defense is going to be a problem for Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel.

Chiefs vs Eagles odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
Online betting cappers will get their first real taste of what Matt Cassel is capable of when the Chiefs head to Philadelphia. He looked awful in his first official game for the Chiefs, throwing a couple of interceptions and racking up just 10 points against the Oakland Raiders. For Philadelphia, this is an important game not just because Vick is returning; it’s important because Philly played very poorly against the New Orleans Saints and it must turn in a better team effort if its going to beat K.C. If the Eagles are truly an NFC contender, they can’t lose games like this. Betting Edge: Eagles
Chiefs vs Eagles odds maker breakdown: Offense
The Chiefs offense looked good with Brodie Croyle under center in Week 1, but it was different story as Cassel returned to action in Week 2. The Chiefs ran the ball well, racking up 173 rushing yards, but Cassel threw a couple of bad interceptions that crippled the team. There are quiet rumblings that Cassel may not be the franchise quarterback the Chiefs brass thought he was. The Eagles offense is obviously night and day whether McNabb starts, so keep an eye on his status this week. If Kolb is the starter, then the Eagles should get a boost from the return of Vick, who will likely play quite a bit in the Wildcat-like formations. Kolb has to limit his turnovers if he does start. He had three interceptions last week. Betting Edge: Eagles
Chiefs vs Eagles odds maker breakdown: Defense
The Chiefs defense is hard to figure out. They allowed 501 yards in Week 1 to Baltimore, then limited the Oakland Raiders to 166 yards in Week 2. They are slowly transitioning to the 3-4 and they don’t have all the parts in place, so clearly at times they are going to look good and at other times they are going to struggle. NFL betting fans were surprised to see the Eagles defense get shredded last week, but that was more of a one-off. Drew Brees gets rid of the ball so quickly that the Eagles’ pressure schemes were useless. Look for them to have far more success against Cassel, who is still quite rusty. Betting Edge: Eagles
Chiefs vs Eagles odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
There are a number of key injuries for the Eagles, starting with quarterback Donovan McNabb. He’s questionable with a rib injury so keep an eye on the reports to see whether he plays. Running back Brian Westbrook is also questionable as he has swelling around his right ankle, which is the ankle he had surgery on in June. Also, right guard Stacy Andrews was fatigued last week and didn’t play while star wideout DeSean Jackson played through a groin strain. Betting Edge: Chiefs
Chiefs vs Eagles odds for total: NO LINE
The Chiefs may not be scoring many points in this contest, as their offense has struggled with Cassel under center and should have a number of difficulties with the Eagles defense. For Philadelphia, they will probably be rusty whether it’s Kolb or Vick under center. Even if McNabb plays, he won’t be at full strength so the over wouldn’t be advisable. Pick: Under
Chiefs vs Eagles betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
It’s hard to gauge where the line will be considering we don’t fully know McNabb’s status, but either way, expect the Chiefs offense to struggle with the Eagles defense and for that to be the story of this contest. STAN’S PICK: Eagles minus the points
