- What: NFL betting
- When: Thursday, August 19th, 7:30 PM ET
- Where: Rogers Center, Toronto, Ontario
- Pick: Indianapolis Colts
What’s On The Line
The Bills make one of their two trips up north to Toronto this year, but it doesn’t matter where they play: if they out the same effort in as they did in their 42-17 loss in Washington, they’re going to be in trouble. The Colts didn’t fare much better, falling 37-17 at home to San Francisco, showing there’s a big drop-off once the starters leave the field.
Offensive Matchups: Colts Bills Betting
Peyton Manning was great in his cameo, going 8-of-10 for 91 yards, then Curtis Painter came in and tossed three picks. Tom Brandstater may have moved ahead of Painter on the depth chart in Indy as he came in and had a decent showing, so look for him to get more reps in this game. There are few quarterbacks in the NFL that can do what Manning can do, but all this game showed is, if he gets hurt, the Colts are in a world of trouble.
The Bills arent’t talented enough to lose players already, and if that isn’t bad enough, they had injuries at the position where they were the deepest. Running backs Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch were hurt on the opening drive of the Washington game, and may not even be ready for the beginning of the regular season. That means we may see more of prized rookie C.J. Spiller than coach Chan Gailey would like us to see.

Defensive Matchups: Colts Bills Betting
The Colts gave up 132 yards on the ground against the 49ers, who didn’t even test Frank Gore. However, rookie linebacker Pat Angerer led the team with eight tackles against the 49ers and always seemed to be around the ball. They also did a good job of forcing fumbles, three of them to be exact, but the Colts failed to recover any of them.
The Bills’ NFL betting odds aren’t going to improve as long as they’re making players like Rex Grossman look good, which is what happened in Washington. The defense couldn’t stop Grossman from passing all over them, and the rush defense was non-existent, allowing 140 yards. Safety Cary Harris led the way with seven tackles, which means that the Redskins were getting into the second and third levels of the defense too easily.

Notable Injuries: Colts Bills Betting
The Colts are relatively healthy heading into this game.
Jackson (hand) and Lynch (ankle) are just the beginning: linebackers Paul Posluszny (groin) and Chris Kelsay (shoulder) didn’t play against Washington, and neither did the offensive line trip of Demetrius Bell (knee), Eric Woods (leg) and Cornell Green (leg).

Outlook and Pick: Colts Bills Betting
The Colts are likely to be favored in this game, but both teams realize they have a lot of work to do heading into the season. The Colts have to get some confidence in their second unit, primarily at quarterback, but the Bills are just trying to make it through without getting more of their teammates injured. We’re banking on a much better performance from the Indy second-team offense against the beleaguered Bills, so take them in your sports betting book.
