Colts Super Bowl Betting Odds – Colts are the best team in the NFL

Posted by Tony Bryant on 1/25/2010 3:24:52 PM

NFL Odds: Colts

The Colts Super Bowl Odds has the AFC Champions favored over the New Orleans Saints. When you take a look back at their entire season, it’s fairly easy to see why. There is much more to this team than just Peyton Manning. Now that the Super Bowl line is up, here is an overview of this team’s strength and weaknesses.

How They Got Here: Colts Super Bowl Betting
Online betting cappers watched the Colts remain as the last undefeated team in the NFL this year and many people wonder if they could have finished 16-0 had they cared to.

The Colts were 14-0 when they first started resting their starters and in that contest, they ended up losing to the New York Jets – the team they crushed in the AFC Championship Game. With the Buffalo Bills on tap in Week 17, the Colts could have easily remained perfect.

Nonetheless, the Colts weight what was important and instead of going for a perfect regular season, they are gunning for a Super Bowl. With another bye week before the Super Bowl, they are going to be, their team is going to be fresh as can be.

Strengths: Colts Super Bowl Odds:
The sportsbook odds makers know that the main reason that the Indianapolis Colts are in the Super Bowl is because of Peyton Manning. Granted, the Colts are probably 6-10 – if that – without him, they still have a star-studded cast around him.

The Colts are deep at wide receiver with Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie. They also have a stellar tight end in Dallas Clark.

While the passing game is fantastic, the Colts are no longer an all-offense squad.

On defense, the Colts have Pro Bowl talent along the line with Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, they have a fast linebacking corps led by Clint Session and they still have good playmakers in the secondary led by Antoine Bethea.

This is a complete team.

Weaknesses: Colts Super Bowl
If there is one thing that’s missing from this squad, it’s a running game. Sure, most people will say that they don’t really need it considering how well the passing game is working but the Colts do have trouble running the ball.

Whether it’s Joseph Addai or rookie Donald Brown, the Colts just don’t produce a lot of rushing yards. They finished with just 1294 on the season, which was 129 yards short of the next closest team.

Experience: Colts Super Bowl Odds
As NFL betting handicappers saw in the NFC Championship Game, experience is always a factor. The Minnesota Vikings didn’t fumble the ball all year long as much as they did in the NFC Championship and that goes to show that no matter how prepared a team is, experience cannot be replaced.

Even though the Colts have a first-year head coach in Jim Caldwell, they are still a very experienced team all the way around. This very roster won a Super Bowl just a few years and ago and that understanding could lead them back to a second Super Bowl.
