Colts vs Texans betting odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
Houston endured a tough Monday night loss to hometown hero Vince Young last week. That's two straight losses for the Texans, which drops them to 5-5 and seriously damages their Wild Card hopes. A loss to Indianapolis could all but bury them, depending on what other teams throughout the league do in Week 12.
The Colts, on the other hand, just keep on rolling. Undefeated at 10-0, Indy escaped with a 17-15 win over the Ravens last Sunday. Indianapolis has won its last four games by a total of 10 points, but the drive for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs marches on.
Colts vs Texans betting odds maker breakdown: Offense
Both teams field somewhat one-dimensional offenses. Peyton Manning has been sensational for the Colts, having tossed 21 touchdowns while averaging 317 yards per game. While the running game isn't going to shatter any records, running back Joseph Addai has contributed a little more over the past three games, scoring five total touchdowns.
Like Indy, Houston lives and dies by the pass. Matt Schaub, finally healthy, is proving he was a worthy investment on Houston's part. He did everything he could in the loss to Tennessee, passing for 305 yards and two scores, but two missed field goals proved costly.

Colts vs Texans betting odds maker breakdown: Defense
The Colts lead the NFL in fewest points allowed and, with the exception of the Patriots two weeks ago, have no allowed more than 17 points in a game since Week 2 against Miami. In fact, those are the only two instances they've surrendered 17 or more all season.
Houston has actually played well enough on defense to get the job done, giving up 20 points in each of the last two games. It was the offense that fell short, averaging just 17 points during that stretch. Pressuring the quarterback has been a serious problem, though, as Houston is second-last with just 13 this year. That's trouble against Manning.

Colts vs Texans betting odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Indy's secondary is a little banged up but it held its own against Baltimore. More importantly, Dwight Freeney missed the past two games with a hip injury; he could be a game-time decision and his 9.5 sacks will be missed. The Texans offense hasn't been as effective over the past two games—which tight end Owen Daniels has missed with a knee injury. He's done for the year.
Betting Edge: Even
Colts vs Texans betting odds for total: 48.5
As mentioned earlier, the Houston offense hasn't been the same with Daniels. Until the Texans prove otherwise, their offense can't be as trusted as usual. The Colts will get their points, but not enough to push this over. Take the under at your sportsbook.
Pick: UNDER 48.5
Colts vs Texans betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
Indianapolis prevailed 20-17 over the Texans a few weeks ago. Neither team has had its "A" game lately, but the Colts are more likely to get their offense back on track. The Texans, of course, are dealing with struggles at running back and an injury to one of their best playmakers. It should be another close game with the Colts winning again—after pulling away somewhat late in the game. Bet on Indy.
