Cowboys Jets Betting – Cowboys Can’t Stop Jets in New Meadowlands
The sports betting is for real now in the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys start off the season with a trip to the New Meadowlands to face the New York Jets. Both of these teams carry some of the same baggage that dragged them down last year, but the Jets have managed to hold on to talent that can help them win. The Cowboys did not address their offensive line and defensive secondary issues in a way that would make their situation better.

When: Sunday, September 11, 8:20 PM ET
Where: New Meadowlands, East Rutherford, NJ
Pick: New York Jets -4 1/2
What’s On The Line
The Cowboys cannot afford a slow start to this season. If Dallas cannot get winning early, then that can have a devastating effect on the team for the rest of the season. The Cowboys need to see improvement if they want to make the playoffs this year. The Jets are trying to keep pace with the New England Patriots to win the AFC East, and New York just may have the tools to do it this year.
Offensive Matchups: Cowboys Jets Betting
Dallas quarterback Tony Romo was impressive in week three of the preseason against the Vikings, going 15 for 20 and throwing for 141 yards. He was also effective in the short time that he played in preseason week two against San Diego when he went 8 for 12 and threw for 58 yards and a touchdown. The offensive line in Dallas is a question mark along with the durability of running back Felix Jones. This game will be a test of the ability of that new and younger Dallas offensive line.
The weakest link on the Jets offense is still quarterback Mark Sanchez. Sanchez only completed 50 percent of his passes in the preseason and, at times, looked completely out of sync with his offense. Shonn Green e and John Conner get the start as running back and fullback respectively. With LaDainian Tomlinson still effective running the ball, the Jets will lean on its running game again.

Defensive Matchups: Cowboys Jets Betting
The Cowboys needed help in the defensive secondary and did not get it. When Dallas lost the Nnamdi Asomugha sweepstakes, it seemed like all of their efforts to improve the defense stopped. The same guys that could not get the job done last year are called on to perform again this year. The Cowboys have a great pass rush, but it will be neutralized by that formidable Jets’ offensive line.
The Jets have pretty much the same defense it had last year, and that is bad news for the rest of the league. Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie are still the corners and Bart Scott is still playing middle linebacker. This is simply a good defense. It is big, strong, fast and well coached. The New York defense hits hard, gets to the quarterback and can shut down the run. For a team like Dallas with questions on offensive line, this is not the defense you want to face in week one.

Notable Injuries: Cowboys Jets Betting
Officially, the Cowboys do not list any injuries yet. But cornerbacks Terence Newman and Mike Jenkins are not expected to play in this game along with offensive lineman Tyron Smith. All three of these players are starters in areas where the Cowboys have been having problems.
The Jets have no significant injuries and all starters should be playing when the ball kicks off.

Outlook and Pick: Cowboys Jets Betting
The sportsbook promo odds for this game are actually pretty generous. Considering the key injuries to the Cowboys and how overmatched Dallas is on the line of scrimmage, this game could be much worse than four and a half points. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys front office had the chance to address the issues that have been plaguing the team for two years, but they chose to stay with what they had. All of that will show when the Jets dominate the Cowboys on opening day.
Pick: New York Jets -4 1/2
