Cowboys vs Packers Odds - Rodgers, Pack will be sacked by Dallas
Cowboys vs Packers odds don't carry the same weight for sportsbook fans that they did in the 90s and early 2000s, when Brett Favre and the Packers were regularly whipped by Big D. That doesn't mean this game is any less important in 2009, however. Dallas is trying to hold onto a thin lead in the NFC East while the Packers risk falling out of the playoff race.

Cowboys vs Packers odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
Dallas came through big time on Sunday, avenging last December's blowout loss to the Eagles - which would have clinched a playoff spot - by knocking off Philly 20-16. Tony Romo threw a 49-yard touchdown to Miles Austin in the fourth quarter, moving Dallas (6-2) to first in the East. The Packers followed up an emotional loss to the Vikings two weeks ago with a stinkbomb against Tampa Bay. The Bucs picked up their first win of the year against Green Bay, which played a brutal, mistake-filled game. The Packers (4-4) have lost two straight and now face an uphill battle to make the postseason.
Cowboys vs Packers odds maker breakdown: Offense
When the season began, Dallas emerged as one of the league's best running teams, mostly tanks to a three-headed monster in Marion Barber, Tashard Choice and Felix Jones. Emphasis has shifted to the passing game lately, especially with the emergence of Austin. The former street free agent has 22 catches for 531 yards and six touchdowns in his last four starts. Aaron Rodgers played his worst game of the year for Green Bay last week. His penchant for holding onto the ball continued, as the lame Bucs pass rush dropped him six times. Rodgers also tossed three interceptions after being picked off just twice in his first seven games. Green Bay's offense is scoring in bunches, but it simply doesn't seem as effective as it was a year ago. Betting Edge: Cowboys
Cowboys vs Packers odds maker breakdown: Defense
Dallas flustered Donovan McNabb and the Eagles on Sunday night. McNabb was just 16/30 for 227 yards and a touchdown, while being picked off twice. Dallas dropped him four times, moving the "D" into a tie for sixth in sacks. The Packers, on the other hand, simply can't get to the quarterback and it's killing them. They have just 13 sacks on the year, including just one against a rookie in Tampa. Not only is the defense playing poorly, special teams are suffering too; the Pack surrendered a blocked punt return for a touchdown against the Buccaneers. Betting Edge: Cowboys
Cowboys vs Packers odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Green Bay's already battered line lost Mark Tauscher to a knee injury against Tampa Bay, while linebacker Aaron Kampman was lost to a head injury - his status is unknown. The offense is also missing receiver Jordy Nelson and tight end Jermichael Finley. Dallas, meanwhile, is relatively healthy. Betting Edge: Cowboys
Packers vs Cowboys odds for total: 47.5
While Green Bay's offense is frustrating and often feels ineffective, it still manages to hang points on the board. In fact, the Packers rank eighth in the NFL at 26.9 points per game. Dallas can score a bunch too, and Romo should have no problems against the feeble Packers defensive front. Take the over. Pick: OVER 47.5
Cowboys vs Packers betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
Dallas has the advantage in every phase of the game right now. Green Bay's only chance is to outscore its opponents - but it couldn't even do that against the lowly Buccaneers. Until Rodgers starts getting rid of the ball faster - and maybe taking a few shots downfield - the Packers won't be able to compete, and that will be doubly difficult with the ferocious Cowboys pass rush hunting for him all afternoon. Bet the Cowboys on Week 10 NFL odds. STAN'S PICK: Dallas -2.5
