Eagles 49ers Betting – 49ers’ Struggles Spotlighted In Prime Time Date With Eagles
To say that the San Francisco 49ers have failed to meet expectations this season is an understatement, as a team that was projected to compete for the top spot in the NFC West and be a legitimate playoff contender is winless through the first four weeks of the football betting season. Despite some solid performances, the 49ers have been unable to get into the win column, including losses to the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons in which they were defeated by a combined five points. With the dismissal of offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye following the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in week three, the San Fransisco offense didn’t show much improvement in last weekend’s loss to Atlanta, and entering the second quarter of the season, there are more question marks than answers in the Bay area.

The emergence of Michael Vick has helped turn the Philadelphia Eagles into legitimate contenders in the NFC East, but after their star quarterback suffered a major rib injury in a loss to the Washington Redskins last Sunday, there are major question marks. Kevin Kolb will take back the starting job he was given before the season started, but there are major question marks concerning his health after the concussion he sustained week one.
Why To Bet On The Eagles?
With Vick out, the offense will be much more vanilla and that means that running back LeSean McCoy will have to bring his game up to another level. McCoy is averaging 5.5 yards per carry with four touchdowns this season, but much of that came with Vick causing opposing defenses headaches and taking the pressure off of him. The second-year back won’t have that luxury this week, and will need to become the focal point of the offense. With the defense allowing only 20 points combined over the past two games, Philadelphia will be dialing up blitzes all day long to keep Alex Smith off guard.
Why To Bet On The 49ers?
Even through their best performances of the season the 49ers haven’t been able to find a way to earn a victory, which doesn’t bode well for making a case as to why to bet on them. Quarterback Alex Smith has thrown at least one interception in every game, and that isn’t good considering that turnovers have been the biggest reason for San Francisco’s struggles. It may take a couple of weeks before offensive coordinator Mike Johnson and Smith get on the same page, and in the meantime the defense will have to step up. The 49ers’ defense showed improvement in last weekend’s win over Atlanta, and will need to continue taking steps at home this week.
