Why To Bet On The Eagles
When your second string quarterback is Michael Vick, you know your team is in a good place. The combination of a strong arm and speed makes it difficult for defenders to decide whether to cover down field or play the run. Vick understands the system well after playing in it last season and having an eager and capable wide receiver in rookie Riley Cooper to throw to will be to his advantage. The Eagles offense is leading the league in total offensive yards per game during the preseason. It will be in the Eagles favor that the Bengals are giving up 300 yards per game thus far during the preseason. On the defensive end, rookie free safety Nate Allen has looked great during training camp. His speed and ability to make big tackles will give the Bengals quarterbacks problems if they throw the ball in his direction. Allen will get sufficient playing time as he is fighting to be the starting free safety when the regular season begins. The Eagles first-team offense led by quarterback Kevin Kolb looked good in their first preseason game, making multiple drives down field during the first quarter and garnering two field goals and will continue to get better each game as their team synergy become stronger.
Why To Bet On The Bengals
It is likely the Bengals first line will see more playing time in game two, perhaps the entire first half, which means the veteran wide receiver core of Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco will be looking to get their feet wet and do some damage against the Eagles cornerbacks, whether it be down field or over the middle. Another reason for the Bengals success this game will be rookie standout Jordan Shipley. The former Texas Longhorn has looked great in training camp and will see playing time on the special teams as a kick returner, where he can do some serious damage and may also see some time in the slot receiver position. Second-string linebacker Michael Johnson is leading the league in sacks during the preseason and will make it difficult for the Eagles quarterbacks to get rid of the ball. The Bengals defense including newly acquired Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones, which was ranked 4th in the league last season has looked stellar during training camp and allowed only 16 points in the hall of fame game against the highly ranked offense of the Dallas Cowboys.
How The Game Will Play Out.
Giving the first line more time on the field will allow the Eagles to work out the kinks from game one as Kolb had difficulty converting touchdowns in the red zone. Rookie wide receiver Riley Cooper will post another impressive performance as he aims for a spot on the team and to quickly move up the depth chart. The Bengals offenses were dismal in game one as second and third string quarterbacks J.T. O’Sullivan and Jordan Palmer combined for three interceptions and looked uncomfortable with the ball in their hands. They will not be successful against the Eagles defense. The Eagles offense will continue to get better under the leadership of Kolb and once he sits down, Vick is more than capable of leading the offense against the highly ranked Bengals defense. It will be another outstanding game for the Eagles offense, leading to a victory.
