Eagles vs Chargers odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
The Chargers have won three straight games but it hasn't been pretty. Two victories came against lowly Kansas City and Oakland (which was a struggle), while the third was a one-point win over the Giants. San Diego showed some nice resolve in the Giants game, though, with Philip Rivers leading the team on a last-minute touchdown drive. San Diego now trails Denver by just a game in the AFC West. The Eagles lost 20-16 to Dallas on Sunday night, dropping them a full game behind the Cowboys in the NFC East. Big D is surging so Philly can't afford anymore missteps - something it’s prone to, like a Week 6 loss to the Raiders.
Eagles vs Chargers odds maker breakdown: Offense
Though it is one of the more explosive units in the league, Philadelphia's offense disappeared against the Cowboys. Donovan McNabb was just 16/30 for 227 yards and two interceptions; he also took four sacks. Still, with DeSean Jackson out wide, Philly can score fast. LeSean McCoy, playing for the injured Brian Westbrook, as at least shown some flashes (115 yards from scrimmage against Dallas). San Diego looked ineffective most of the day against New York, but it came up big when necessary; Rivers tossed an 18-yard touchdown to Vincent Jackson with 21 seconds left in the game, giving the Chargers a 21-20 win. Jackson has emerged as a top-5 receiver in the NFL and has five touchdowns in his last four games. The running game continues to struggle, though - LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 22 yards on 12 carries last week. Betting Edge: Even
Eagles vs Chargers odds maker breakdown: Defense
The Chargers have been weak against the run throughout the season, but they got the job done against New York, holding the G-Men to 116 yards on 29 carries. That bodes well for this week, since Philly doesn't run the ball much anyway. McNabb will have a hard time piercing the pass defense, which ranks fifth in the NFL - especially since Shawne Merriman is finally getting the job done (he has four sacks in his last two starts). The Eagles generally did a good job against Dallas on Sunday, but a 49-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter was the decisive score. In fact, Dallas' 20-point effort was the highest against the Eagles since a Week 2 loss to the Saints. Rivers will be on the move all day, as Philly is second in the NFL in sacks. Eagles vs Chargers odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Westbrook is very questionable with concussion and ankle concerns. Philly's secondary could also be in trouble, as Ellis Hobbs (back) and Asante Samuel (neck) left the Dallas game with injuries. San Diego could get center Nick Hardwick back this week, which would be a tremendous boost to the line. Betting Edge: Chargers

Eagles vs Chargers betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
As mentioned earlier, Philly's secondary is dealing with some injury concerns. The Eagles can still bring a lot of pressure to bail out their corners, but it won't be enough against Rivers - who managed to throw three touchdowns against the Giants in an "off" week. Vincent Jackson is in line for another big day. Bet on San Diego to extend its winning streak to four. STAN'S PICK: Chargers -2.5
