Eagles vs Falcons Betting Odds - Falcons stand little chance without Ryan, Turner
NFL Odds: Pick Eagles |
The Eagles vs Falcons betting odds sets up a matchup of two teams jockeying for playoff positioning in the NFC, but this is really two teams going in opposite directions. Only one game separates them in the standings, but the Falcons have lost four of their last six games and needed a miracle to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Online betting cappers know that without Matt Ryan and Michael Turner, they don’t stand much of a shot this Sunday.

Eagles vs Falcons betting odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
At 7-4, the Eagles are hanging on to one of the two Wild Card slots, but they’re just one game behind the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East. If they keep winning, they may be able to climb the standings, but they have to be a little more focused than they were last week against the Washington Redskins.
Meanwhile, Atlanta has lost four of their last six games and needed to catch lightning in a bottle to top the 1-10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Now they’ll be without their starting quarterback and starting running back for at least this week. They’re in some trouble.
Betting Edge: Eagles
Eagles vs Falcons betting odds maker breakdown: Offense
The Eagles offense has been inconsistent, but they’re an explosive unit that’s licking its chops at a beleaguered Falcons secondary. The Falcons have given up the most passing plays of 20+ yards in the NFL, and even if DeSean Jackson doesn’t play, the Eagles should have an easy time carving up this defense. With Donovan McNabb, LeSean McCoy and Jeremy Maclin, the Eagles have enough to score points aplenty against the Falcons.
Meanwhile, NFL betting cappers have watched the Falcons fade in recent weeks, and they’ll be in tough this Sunday. Chris Redman will start at quarterback, and while he played well last week, going up against the blitz-heavy Eagles will be a different story. The Eagles weakness on defense is their run defense, but that will be tough to exploit without Turner in the lineup. This is a really tough matchup for the Falcons.

Eagles vs Falcons betting odds maker breakdown: Defense
The Eagle defense wasn’t great against the Redskins last week but this is a very good unit. Asante Samuel and the Eagles secondary will blanket Roddy White and obviously keep an eye on Tony Gonzalez, but outside of that, they’re going to unleash their blitzes on Redman. This an experienced unit and they’re going to give Redman and the Falcons offense a very tough time this weekend.
For Atlanta, their defense continues to get gashed. Last week, the feeble Buccaneers looked dangerous against them, and their rookie quarterback Josh Freeman was 20-of-29 for 250 yards and two touchdowns. The Falcons are decent against the run and horrible against the pass, and this Sunday, they face a pass-oriented team. That spells trouble.

Eagles vs Falcons betting odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
The Falcons have a slew of injuries, starting with Matt Ryan, Michael Turner and left tackle Sam Baker. That’s quite a bit to take off of a team and expect them to be consistent.
For Philadelphia, they could be without wideout DeSean Jackson, who is the team’s best receiver.

Eagles vs Falcons betting odds breakdown: Outlook and Pick
There are a couple of key injuries that are keeping this line from opening (Jackson, Ryan and Turner), but that doesn’t matter. Whatever the spread, lay the points with the Eagles. The Falcons defense is pathetic, and their offense - without their two most important weapons - won’t be doing much against a good Eagles squad. The Eagles will be favored in the sportsbook, and expect them to win and cover against the injury-riddled Falcons.
