The Eagles have plenty of losses on defense to overcome, while the Colts will have to stay steady after numerous coaching changes.

It will be interesting to see if the Eagles let Michael Vick run wild in this contest now that he’s on the roster. Against the Colts’ second stringers, Vick could really put up some points. The Eagles have plenty of depth either way, as Kevin Kolb should be steady at quarterback while A.J. Feely should put forth a desperate performance (as his job is in jeopardy now that Vick is on the roster).

The Colts offense won’t be on the field very long in this game, especially after quarterback Peyton Manning took a few big hits in Week 1. Look for them to make sure that there is a bit of consistency over a series or two and then let Jim Sorgi lead the way.

The Eagles have lost a lot off of their defense in the offseason, but one thing they do have is plenty of depth on the defensive line and in the secondary. NFL betting fans should expect the Eagles to have one of the best defensive back groupings in the league even though the team traded away Lito Sheppard.

For the Colts, they don’t have much depth on defense and their bigger concern will be to get through this game without injuries.

While the kicking games are awash, the return teams favor the Eagles significantly. If DeSean Jackson is healthy enough to play this week, he’ll give the Eagles return teams a boost, but if not, the Eagles still have rookie first-round pick Jeremy Maclin, Quinton Demps and Ellis Hobbs. The Colts are much weaker in this department.

It might be odd to see a road favorite in the sportsbook, but the Colts just don’t invest much effort into preseason games. On top of that, the Eagles have more depth and should have no problems covering this spread if Michael Vick plays some significant playing time.
