Giants Redskins Betting – Rebuilt Redskins Open Season With NFC East Clash Against Giants
Playing in a division where the other three teams are all expected to contend for a playoff spot will keep the pressure on the Washington Redskins once again in 2011, even if the team isn’t expected to finish better than .500. Head coach Mike Shanahan avoided the circus of a sports betting offseason that he oversaw in his first year in Washington, but it will still be a long climb before the Redskins are ready to contend, and it begins at home against the division rival New York Giants

NFL Betting Lines: New York Giants – 3
While the Redskins are working towards respectability, the bar has been set much higher for the Giants, especially with New York’s other team advancing to their conference championship game in consecutive seasons. The Giants have some talent on both sides of the ball, but head coach Tom Coughlin will need to find a way to get the most of it or face the music as his team moves one step further away from their Super Bowl XLII win.
NFL Betting Preview: New York Giants
Franchise quarterback Eli Manning didn’t do anything to deflect the attention off of him with his preseason statements that he belonged in the same class as Tom Brady, and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the criticism he has received. Manning has never been a bad quarterback, but he has been prone to turnovers over the past couple of years and could be in trouble with injuries taking a toll on his receiving core following the departure of tight end Kevin Boss. The Giants can still generate pressure with their front four and should be able to pressure the quarterback, but it will be on Manning and the offense to put up points.
NFL Betting Preview: Washington Redskins
While Shanahan has managed to steer clear of the circus that enveloped his team a year ago, he still hasn’t put to rest the controversy of who should start for the Redskins at quarterback this year, but that may be more up to the two players battling for the position than him. Rex Grossman and John Beck have battled for the job this preseason with the veteran getting the nod for week one, but Grossman has been erratic throughout his career and a couple of bad plays could influence Shanahan to go fishing for Beck. The defense is solid, but there are question marks about the transition on offense.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The Giants are undefeated in their last five sports betting bonus games against Washington, and undefeated in their last five at Washington, so if the Redskins are going to open their season with a win than something has to give. Grossman has shown flashes this preseason but has been very inconsistent throughout his career, and the Giants’ defense could really rattle him if they can generate some pressure up front.
NFL Betting Pick: New York Giants - 3
