Jets vs Patriots Betting Odds - Angry Pats exact revenge on Ryan, Jets
The sportsbook odds for Sunday’s AFC East matchup between New England and the Jets are backing the Patriots at home, and the mood in New England won’t be good due to their meltdown against Indianapolis, as well as an earlier loss to the Jets. New England won’t be in any mood for mercy, and the Brady-Randy Moss combo will slaughter the Jets.

Jets vs Patriots betting odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
The Jets (4-5) are in danger of falling out of the playoff race as they’ve dropped their last two games by a combined seven points, both at home. The Patriots (6-3) gave away their showdown at Indianapolis, losing a 17-point fourth-quarter lead to fall 35-34 due to a massively uncharacteristic mistake by coach Bill Belichick. The Jets talked lots of trash heading into their Week 2 win over the Patriots, who will definitely be angry about the Indy loss. But New York has more to play for this week, as their season is hanging in the balance.
Betting Edge: Jets
Jets vs Patriots betting odds maker breakdown: Offense
New York’s offense is ranked 15th in the league, but their chances hinge on the play of rookie pivot Mark Sanchez, who has been inconsistent all season. He tossed a pair of picks in the Jets’ 24-22 loss to Jacksonville, and the Jets would do well to put a big workload on Thomas Jones, who had a run of three straight 100-yard games snapped against the Jaguars. They do have the league’s best rushing attack, if you didn’t know.
The Patriots’ offense is ranked just behind New Orleans, and they put up 477 and 34 yards against the Colts. Tom Brady had 375 yards and three touchdowns, but a late fumble by Laurence Maroney at the goal line gave Indy the chance they needed to get back into the game. Still, this looks a lot like the offense that set records in 2007.

Jets vs Patriots betting odds maker breakdown: Defense
Rex Ryan has definitely whipped this defense into shape as the Jets are third in the league, and they rank second in the NFL with nine fumble recoveries. However, they’re 26th in the NFL in sacks, and they’ll have to get pressure on Brady this week to overcome their online betting odds.
The Patriots’ defense got eaten alive by the Colts in the fourth quarter, and their pass rush stopped getting to Peyton Manning like they did in the first half, when they had a 24-14 lead. The Patriots are still seventh in the NFL in defense, and it was rare that they collapsed like that in the fourth quarter. In fact, Sunday night was the first time in 13 games under Belichick that the Patriots led by at least 13 in the fourth quarter, and lost.

Jets vs Patriots betting odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Safety Jim Leonhard (thumb) was injured during the Jacksonville game, and while he finished, we don’t know how bad it is yet. Linebacker Vernon Gholston (hamstring) didn’t play on Saturday.
The Patriots are pretty healthy, with the exception of linebacker Tully Banta-Cain, who hurt his ribs against the Colts.
Betting Edge: Draw
Jets vs Patriots betting odds for total: 45
Three of the last five meetings between these two have gone under the posted total, and with all due respect to the New England offense, this New York defense is pretty solid. The Patriots’ defense will be eager to keep the Jets’ offense quietly after last week’s collapse.
Pick: UNDER 45
Jets vs Patriots betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
The Pats have actually lost their last two against the Jets, but they’ve won seven of 10 overall. New England is a perfect 5-0 at home this year, and the Jets have dropped five of their last seven at Gillette Stadium. An angry New England team is never a good team to face, and the Jets will have their hands full, especially on offense. The Patriots’ defense will face a tough week in practice, and they’ll take it out on Sanchez, who has battled turnover problems, and the Patriots have 17 takeaways this year.
