The Redskins gave John Beck a try at the quarterback spot but have reverted to Grossman this season, and the results are hardly inspiring, to say the least. Washington remains under .500, looking up at Dallas and the New York Giants in the NFC East. The Jets’ defense should be able to get two or more takeaways in this game, and that should be enough for the visitors to prevail at FedEx Field as long as Sanchez can display good ball security in his own right.

Why Washington Will Win

When you do your homework and assess your sports bet on this game, you know that as mediocre as the Redskins are, the Jets could very possibly make them look good. Few people expected the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow to beat the Jets in a recent Thursday night game on Nov. 17, but the Jets’ offense was so putrid that the Broncos were able to win despite scoring only one offensive touchdown. New York quarterback Mark Sanchez threw a pick-six in that loss, while the Jets’ defense couldn’t produce one last stand in the final minutes. If the Jets could blow a golden opportunity for a win on the road against Denver, they can just as easily lose against Washington. The Jets’ offense will always keep mediocre opponents in games; it’s just a question of the Redskins’ ability to convert the chances that come their way.

Who Will Win

It’s doubtful that the Jets will continue to tumble. Coach Rex Ryan’s team usually rebounds in December to get the fifth or sixth wild card spot in the AFC playoffs. The Jets can’t be trusted to win division titles, but they can be trusted to win 10 games per season.
