Lions vs Seahawks Odds - Lions will cover in ugly, mistake-filled affair
Lions vs Seahawks odds feature two teams that suffered brutal losses last week. Detroit, though it managed to actually win a game this year, is floundering. The Seahawks looked energized a few weeks ago but are dangerously close to falling out of the NFC West race. If you bet on sports, you'll have a tough time picking a side in this one.

Lions vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
The Lions have admittedly shown some fight this season, but it's only been enough to muster one win. Last week was perhaps the nadir of the season, as Detroit gave pathetic St. Louis its first win of the season—on home turf, no less. At least new head coach Jim Schwartz has these guys playing hard. The Seahawks have dropped two in a row since beating Jacksonville 41-0 and even the return of Matt Hasselbeck hasn't helped; Seattle has scored just 20 points in the past two games. The Seahawks still have a shot in the weak NFC West but they need to win—now.
Lions vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: Offense
A pathetic running game - if you could even call it that - has doomed Seattle. The Seahawks are averaging just 88 yards per game on the ground and finally cut Edgerrin James this week. What's left isn't much better, so scoring remains in the hands of Matt Hasselbeck. So far, he's proving he can't get it done alone. Matt Stafford returned after a two-game absence and struggled mightily. The rookie quarterback completed less than half his passes and only averaged just 5.1 yards per attempt. He'll need to be much better if Detroit is going to win another game this year. He, too, is handicapped by a poor running game; Kevin Smith is averaging just 56 yards per game and 3.1 per carry. At least Hasselbeck is better than Stafford right now. Betting Edge: Seahawks
Lions vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: Defense
Detroit's defense stinks; only Tennessee is allowing more points per game. The Lions notched just one takeaway and zero sacks against the hopeless rams, and Stephen Jackson ran for 149 yards and a score against them. This is mind boggling, especially since Schwartz is a defensive guru. Seattle's defense has caved in since the Jacksonville shut out, allowing 65 points in the last two games. Tony Romo absolutely scored the secondary for 256 yards, three scores and no touchdowns. Of course it doesn't help when the offense goes three-and-out every time. There are some decent players here and, at 21 points per game allowed, Seattle is a few notches above Detroit. Betting Edge: Seahawks
Lions vs Seahawks odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Seattle corner Ken Lucas suffered a shoulder stinger against Dallas but should be fine for Week 9. Patrick Kerney, who has four sacks this season, is nursing a groin injury. Lofa Tatupu is out for Seattle with a pectoral injury. As mentioned, Stafford just returned to action for Detroit. Another big boost could come from receiver Calvin Johnson, Detroit's best player; he's been out with bum knee but could return. Betting Edge: Lions
Lions vs Seahawks odds for total: 43
Neither offense is playing very well right now. No matter how bad the defenses are, these guys just can't score. Bet the under at your sportsbook. Pick: UNDER 43
Lions vs Seahawks betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
Seattle is clearly a better team than Detroit, but it might be struggling just as bad. The Lions have played tough for the most part this season and should be able to hang around the Seahawks for a while. Seattle will win outright, but Detroit will cover in a gritty, ugly game.
