NFL Power Rankings - Vikings surge to top spot
Ahead of your NFL betting matchups for Week 5, check out the betonline.com NFL Power Rankings, where one team beat a division rival to jump to the top of the pile, although they have a pair of Super Bowl-winning brothers on their back.
1. (7) Minnesota (4-0)
ATS: 3-1; O/U: 3-1
If Brett Favre plays the way he did in their Monday night win over Green Bay, just skip the rest of the season for the Vikings and put them in the NFC title game now. But can Favre continue to be the game manager he has been? 2. (5) Indianapolis (4-0)
ATS: 3-1; O/U: 2-2
Peyton Manning is playing out of his mind right now, and given his great career, that’s saying something. Still, a ground game would be a big boost to Indy’s sportsbook odds. 3. (2) New York Giants (4-0)
ATS: 3-0-1; O/U: 2-1-1
Lil’ Manning (Eli) is hurt, but the Giants lucked out and host the Raiders this weekend. Seriously, if there are any Manning nephews, they could probably afford to take Uncle Eli’s place. 4. (3) New Orleans (4-0)
ATS: 4-0; O/U: 2-2
The Saints won, and Drew Brees didn’t even have to throw for a million yards? The Giants-Saints game in two weeks could be the best game of the early season. 5. (14) Denver (4-0)
ATS: 4-0; O/U: 0-4
This hurts my soul to put them in the top five, but hey, they haven’t lost a game yet. Josh McDaniels must be so smug right now, but the schedule is about to get much tougher for the Broncos. 6. (6) New England (3-1)
ATS: 2-2; O/U: 2-2
They’re not back just yet. Like Manning and the Colts, Tom Brady and the Patriots desperately need a decent rushing attack. 7. (1) Baltimore (3-1)
ATS: 3-1; O/U: 3-1
Shady calls or not, the Ravens showed up to play in New England last week. Joe Flacco is avoiding the sophomore slump so far: he’s 10th in the league in passer rating. 8. (13) Chicago (3-1)
ATS: 3-1; O/U: 2-2
Matt Forte broke out of his slump in the Bears’ destruction of the Lions, and the defense is playing with a chip on their shoulder. The NFC North is going to be so much fun to watch this year from a sports betting perspective. 9. (17) San Francisco (3-1)
ATS: 4-0; O/U: 1-3
The defense scored 21 points in a 35-0 mauling of St. Louis. Patrick Willis is the 2009 version of his head coach, Mike Singletary. 10. (9) Philadelphia (2-1)
ATS: 2-1; O/U: 3-0
Donovan McNabb is back and will start this week against Tampa Bay, but how much will he play, and how much action will Michael Vick see? 11. (8) Atlanta (3-1) 12. (4) New York Jets (3-1) 13. (12) Cincinnati (3-1) 14. (15) Pittsburgh (2-2) 15. (10) Green Bay (2-2) 16. (11) San Diego (2-2) 17. (16) Dallas (2-2) 18. (23) Jacksonville (2-2) 19. (21) Houston (2-2) 20. (24) Washington (2-2) 21. (18) Arizona (1-2) 22. (25) Miami (1-3) 23. (19) Seattle (1-3) 24. (22) Buffalo (1-3) 25. (27) Detroit (1-3) 26. (20) Tennessee (0-4) 27. (26) Carolina (0-4) 28. (30) Kansas City (0-4) 29. (31) Cleveland (0-4) 30. (32) Tampa Bay (0-4) 31. (28) Oakland (1-3) 32. (30) St. Louis (0-4)
