Ravens Jets Betting – Flacco Trumps Sanchez, Leads Ravens To Road Win
Online betting players will have a great matchup on their hands for the 2010 debut of Monday Night Football as Baltimore heads to The New Meadowlands to face the New York Jets, who surprised everyone to get to the AFC championship game last year. They’ll get a rude awakening on Monday as the Ravens will come away with a hard-fought win.
- What: NFL betting
- When: Monday, September 13th, 7:00 PM ET
- Where: New Meadowlands Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
- Pick: Baltimore Ravens +2.5
What’s On The Line
These two are both great bets to win the AFC, and this game is a chance for both teams to flex their muscles. The Ravens fell in the second round of the playoffs last year to Indianapolis, who then went on to beat the Jets in the AFC title game. There’s also some history between these two teams as New York coach Rex Ryan was on the Baltimore staff from 1999 to 2008, playing a major factor in the defensive brilliance of the Ravens.
Offensive Matchups: Ravens Jets Betting
uarterback Joe Flacco improved in his second year and he had a great preseason, and he also has more weapons at his disposal than ever before. The Ravens went out and got Anquan Boldin and the injured Donte Stallworth to team up with Derrick Mason and tight end Todd Heap. They recently picked up T.J. Houshmandzadeh, while running back Ray Rice broke out last year. The offensive line will have to be solid, and it’ll be interesting to see how tackle Michael Oher handles being switched over to the left to protect Heap’s “Blind Side” (pun completely intended).
The Jets had the top rushing attack in the league last year, and that was due to their inability to trust Mark Sanchez, who was tied for second in the NFL with 20 picks. They have capable receivers in Braylon Edwards and Jerricho Cotchery, and Santonio Holmes will be back in Week 5, but Sanchez made some terrible decisions last year, although he was only a rookie. He should be better in Year 2, but the Jets will likely pound the ball with Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson, who showed signs of life in the preseason.

Defensive Matchups: Ravens Jets Betting
The Ravens were third in the league defensively after Ryan’s exit, but they lost the intimidation factor that they had while he was there. A lot of it was Ryan, but a lot of it was the injury to safety Ed Reed, who when healthy is the best safety in the game and allowed the Ravens to blitz whenever they want. The health of Reed is again the biggest question, because of the rest of the Ray Lewis-led defense still looks good. Losing cornerback Dominique Foxworthy is another loss to the secondary.
Speaking of the secondary, Darrelle Revis is signed and will likely be in the lineup for the Jets, who had the best defense in the league by far last year. With Revis locking up the NFL’s best on one side of the field, the Jets are allowed to do whatever they want with the other 10 guys, and that usually means blitz. The Jets also have enough depth to deal with the injury to linebacker Calvin Pace, and up front, nose tackle Kris Jenkins looks recovered from a knee injury he suffered last year as well.

Notable Injuries: Ravens Jets Betting
Reed (hip) may very well be out for a few weeks, while rookie nose tackle Terrance Cody (knee) is also out for this game for the Ravens.
Safety Brodney Pool (ankle) and Pace (foot) will both miss this matchup for the Jets.

Outlook and Pick: Ravens Jets Betting
FL betting odds have the Jets as a 2.5-point favorite coming into this Monday night showdown with the Ravens, who have won five in a row over the Jets since 1998. This will be the first time that Ryan meets his former team, so there won’t be a whole lot of secrets out there on the field, therefore, this game is going to come down to which team will make the fewer mistakes. We’re betting on the Ravens to come away with the victory here, because we don’t trust Sanchez at all, not yet. Flacco is a steady quarterback who will stand in and take some hits, and he’ll lead the Ravens to a sports betting upset in Week 1.
Stan’s Pick: Baltimore Ravens +2.5
