Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that these teams have consistently fought for AFC North supremacy, which is once again the situation heading in to their week nine meeting with the Steelers leading Baltimore by one sports betting game for the division lead heading into this Sunday night’s matchup.

The season kicked off with the Ravens and Steelers meeting week one in a game that didn’t play out even close to as expected, with Baltimore dominating the defending AFC champions in a 35-7 route. The fans in Pittsburgh haven’t forgotten about that opener, and neither have the players as they get set to do it all over again this weekend.

While the Steelers have bounced back strong following that week one loss to take over the division, Baltimore has struggled to stay on track with tough losses to the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars as well as a couple of wins that were closer than expected, including last weekend’s comeback effort against the Arizona Cardinals in a game which they actually trailed 24-3 at the half. The Ravens are now on the road for their next two games, but there is no way that they will be looking past Pittsburgh. One of the biggest problems has been the offense’s lack of progress with Joe Flacco under center. Flacco has been inconsistent in key situations all year, and will be called upon to step up when it matters the most.

Stepping up is exactly what Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has done over the past couple of weeks, helping to rally Pittsburgh to four straight wins and top sportsbook spot in the AFC North. Roethlisberger has thrown for 2,302 yards and 14 touchdowns, but the biggest differences have been his decision-making and ball security. With linebackers James Harrison, LaMarr Woodley, and James Farrior each nursing injuries there would normally be a concern at the position, but nobody will doubt they will be fired up to play Baltimore. Pittsburgh ranks first in the NFL against the pass, and if they can get some pressure on Flacco early they could make the Ravens one-dimensional from the outset.

The Steelers have shown consistent improvement culminating in their win over New England, and while many might feel on a normal basis that this would be a letdown game, there won’t be any slowing down against the Ravens. Baltimore has struggled with consistency all year in big part due to problems on the offense, and it will be an entirely different environment than in the opener when they take the field in Pittsburgh.
