Redskins Colts Betting – Redskins Look To Take Advantage Of Manning-less Colts
Even if it is the preseason, a schedule that features AFC contenders including the defending conference champion Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, and the Baltimore Ravens should be a good test of merit for any team. The Washington Redskins opened their exhibition schedule with an impressive win over the Steelers, and will now look to parlay that result as they make the trip to Indianapolis.

NFL Betting Lines: Washington Redskins -1
Of the three matchups against AFC contenders, this one may be the least accurate in determining the Redskins’ merit, as the Colts will operate without their franchise quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning is expected to miss the entire preseason as he recovers from neck surgery, and in their opener without the Pro Bowl quarterback, Indianapolis managed just 10 points in a blowout loss to the St. Louis Rams.
NFL Betting Preview: Washington Redskins
While Pittsburgh didn’t exactly make it hard on them, the Redskins looked very good in their first exhibition game, with Rex Grossman all but solidifying his status as the team’s No. 1 quarterback by throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown. Head coach Mike Shanahan likes what he has seen from his team early on this preseason following a smooth training camp, and with offseason addition Tim Hightower looking like a good fit in the offense, he has to be optimistic about the coming season. With Manning out for the Colts, this marks the perfect chance for the Washington defense to flex its muscle and make a statement to gain some confidence.
NFL Betting Preview: Indianapolis Colts
The Colts gave the majority of the snaps to Dan Orlovsky in the opener, and he completed just 40-percent of his passes and threw two interceptions compared to just one touchdown. Indianapolis will likely turn to the running game against the Redskins to give their young running backs plenty of opportunities to show what they can do, and perhaps even open things up with a couple of play-action passes if the option presents itself. The Colts’ defense had no answer for Sam Bradford and the Rams’ offense in their first sports betting bonusexhibition game, and they will need to show more against Grossman and company for Washington.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
It is highly unlikely that we will ever see the Redskins featured as sports betting favorites at Indianapolis again once Manning returns to the lineup, but for the time being this makes too much sense to ignore. Washington looked to be in midseason form in their win over the Steelers, and the team is looking for a quick start out of the gates to gain confidence fast. The Colts simply have no answer without their leader in the lineup, and it will show once again as Orlovsky and company make the Redskins’ defense look like a roster full of Pro Bowl players.
