Redskins vs Falcons Odds - Schedule finally gives Falcons a break
The Redskins vs Falcons odds should come as a relief to the Falcons. Their 4-3 record doesn’t seem too impressive to sportsbook bettors at first glance, but a closer looks shows its last five opponents: New England, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans – and four of those games came on the road. The Redskins will be a nice break.

Redskins vs Falcons odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
The offensively anemic Washington Redskins are playing for pride and have almost reached a point where the “pressure” is off. The Falcons have plenty to prove; if they don’t take major advantage of some easier games ahead on the schedule, they could slide out of the playoff race.
Redskins vs Falcons odds maker breakdown: Offense
There’s absolutely no comparison here and NFL betting fans all know it. While Matt Ryan hasn’t been himself lately – his tough recent opponents hurried him and forced him into some questionable throws – he’s still already an above-average NFL quarterback in his second season. With targets like Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez, he’ll put up numbers against Washington. Michael Turner also seemed to find himself last Monday, finally recapturing the burst that earned him the moniker “The Burner.” A repeat performance would go a long way. Washington’s offense is a mess. Jason Campbell refuses to hang in the pocket long enough to look downfield (remember Santana Moss?) and Clinton Portis’ best days are clearly behind him. Redskins vs Falcons odds maker breakdown: Defense
The Falcons obviously took their lumps against Drew Brees last week but they at least showed some defensive creativity, altering their usually conservative strategy and blitzing plenty. If they deploy the same strategy against the jittery Campbell they could have a very successful day. It’s worth following the Atlanta injury report, however, as key contributors Curtis Lofton and John Abraham both got banged up last Monday night. The Falcons rank 29th in the NFL in total defense, allowing 378.1 yards per game, but that stat partially reflects the potent offenses they’ve faced so far. Consequently, Washington has the No. 2 pass defense in the NFL but that’s not a huge accomplishment considering the Redskins were the first team in NFL history to open their season against six straight winless opponents. If Washington can pressure Ryan it will have a tiny edge defensively. Also, we should expect DeAngelo Hall to come up big against his old team -- probably covering Roddy White. Betting Edge: Redskins
Redskins vs Falcons odds for total: TBD
Whatever the posted total is, expect this game to fall under it. We know the Redskins (a) can’t score and (b) play respectable defense, so it’s no surprise that five of their seven games have fallen under the total. The Falcons can get an early lead and may choose a conservative, run-oriented approach to chew up clock, so this game shouldn’t be a barn burner. Pick: Under
Redskins vs Falcons odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
The Falcons have battled injuries all season – Peria Jerry, William Moore, Jerious Norwood...and they can only hope nothing is seriously wrong with Lofton or Abraham. The Redskins lost Chris Cooley to a broken ankle but it’s not like he was setting the world on fire anyway in the weak Washington passing offense. Betting Edge: Redskins
Redskins vs Falcons betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
The Redskins will still make the Falcons work thanks to a decent defense but it’s time for Atlanta to bounce back. Even if Ryan struggles under pressure again, Washington’s run defense hasn’t been great, so Turner could soften up the ’Skins. More importantly, this Redskin team just can’t score, so it’s not like Atlanta needs to post a huge number to win. Bet on the Falcons. STAN’S PICK: Falcons
