Redskins Giants Betting – Giants Take Down Another NFC East Rival
When it comes to sports betting picks, some players have problems in regards to the New York Giants, who are as unpredictable as anyone in the league. But they’re coming off a big rivalry win on the road to put themselves in a good position in the NFC East and they’ll aim to keep it going when they welcome another divisional rival, a slumping Washington team, to MetLife Stadium.

Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
Pick: New York Giants -7
Why Bet On Washington Redskins (4-9 SU, 5-7-1 ATS)
The Redskins gave New England everything they could handle, but ended up falling short in a 34-27 loss to the Patriots at home in a game that Washington probably should have won despite two turnovers. Rex Grossman was 19-of-32 for 252 yards, two touchdowns and a pick, but he was also sacked in the end zone, causing a fumble which Vince Wilfork recovered for a score. Roy Helu continues to impress, running for 126 yards, and that takes a lot of pressure off Grossman and the passing game. Unfortunately, the defense couldn’t keep up with Tom Brady and the New England offense and in particular, tight end Rob Gronkowski, who had 160 receiving yards and two scores for the Patriots. The Redskins stopped the Patriots on three of four red-zone opportunities, but they gave up two touchdowns outside the 20-yard line in the fourth quarter.
Running back Mike Sellers (arm) left the New England game and it didn’t return, while tackle Jammal Brown (groin) hurt himself in the pregame and with Trent Williams gone due to a drug suspension (as is tight end Fred Davis), Washington’s pass protection could be in tough against a New York front four that can rush the passer. The progress of Helu is crucial to keeping the rush off Grossman, who didn’t play badly against the Patriots, but he has to avoid turnovers if the Redskins are going to play spoiler against their NFC East rivals. The Redskins are also playing for next year, so that is their motivation.
Why Bet On New York Giants (7-6 SU, 6-6-1 ATS)
The Giants stole victory from the jaws of defeat with a wild fourth-quarter rally, and end Jason Pierre-Paul capped a massive game with a field-goal block in a 37-34 win at Dallas to pull even with the Cowboys atop the East. Eli Manning was 27-of-47 for 400 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while Brandon Jacobs ran for 101 yards and two scores, including the go-ahead touchdown with 46 seconds left. The defense gave up 444 yards, but Pierre-Paul may have been the player of the game with eight tackles, two sacks (one of which was a safety) and of course, his block at the end of regulation. This was a game that the Giants had no business winning, but they never gave up and forced the Cowboys into making some mistakes. It was a must-win game for the Giants, who had dropped four in a row and a loss would have put them two games behind the Cowboys. Now, they’re in the thick of the playoff hunt in the NFC.
New York is still waiting to see if defensive lineman Osi Umenyiora (ankle) can return to the lineup, while fellow lineman Justin Tuck (toe) had to leave the Dallas game for a few series and defensive back Kenny Phillips (knee) is still a concern. But regardless, beating the Cowboys in Dallas was huge for the Giants; now they have to make sure they carry that momentum into this game because they’ve been known to struggle in games they should win, but the Giants come up big in games they shouldn’t win, which makes them a maddening prospect for NFL betting players. Their run defense has to keep Helu in check and force Washington into being a passing team because Grossman is due to make mistakes if he throws too much.
How It Will Play Out
The Giants are favored by a touchdown at home in this Week 15 NFL betting matchup, and they’ve dominated the Redskins as of late, going 8-2 SU and 6-3-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings with Washington and six of those meetings fell under the posted total. They did fall to the Redskins by a score of 28-14 on the road in Week 1, and Manning had a terrible game; don’t expect that again on Sunday.
Even though Washington played the Patriots tough, they still lost and they’re just not ready to compete with the league’s elite (or even teams that are above average). With their line banged up, the Redskins are going to have their hands full dealing with Pierre-Paul and the New York pass rush, and Manning should have his way with the Washington pass defense. Look for the Giants to cover this online betting spread comfortably.
