Saints Cowboys Betting – Saints March Into Dallas Looking For Fourth Straight Win Thursday
In what would have originally been billed as the premier match for this Thanksgiving Thursday of betting on NFL, the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints travel to Dallas to take on the Dallas Cowboys week 12, a clash of two projected NFC contenders gone wrong. While the Saints have won three in a row to improve to 7-3, one game back of the division-leading Atlanta Falcons, the Cowboys are at 3-7.
NFL Betting: New Orleans Saints @ Dallas Cowboys
Online Sports Betting Odds: New Orleans -3
The fact that Dallas has won consecutive games since head coach Jason Garrett took over offers little solace to a fan base that had expectations for their team to compete for this year’s hometown Super Bowl. A perfect record the rest of the way would mean the Cowboys finish above the .500 mark, but that will be a tough task starting this week against the defending champions.
Why To Bet On The Saints?
After losing three of five from late September through October, head coach Sean Payton has his team looking like the one that went all the way a year ago. As is the case since Payton arrived in New Orleans, quarterback Drew Brees has been the key with 2,969 yards and 22 touchdowns, and should be more than prepared for another big performance in the Thanksgiving spotlight. The Saints have scored a combined 68 points through their last two games, and open a two-game set away from home trying to make up the difference that has Atlanta one game ahead for the lead in the NFC South.
Why To Bet On The Cowboys?
Detroit actually gained 73 more yards than Dallas in last week’s win, with the Cowboys finding a way to get the job done without Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo once again. Jon Kitna hasn’t been terrible in relief, especially last week when he throw for three touchdowns and ran for an additional 40 yards without turning the ball over. However, the biggest part of the team’s success has been the play of the defense, which has allowed a combined 39 points in two wins after allowing 34 or more in the five straight losses that led to Phillips’ dismissal. Dallas scored consecutive fourth quarter touchdowns to come back and beat the Lions, and if they can pick up where they left off from last week they could surprise. How The Game Will Play Out
It won’t get any easier for Garrett after stringing together consecutive wins in his first two games as an NFL head coach. A date with the defending champions will be followed closely by a clash with the reigning AFC champion Indianapolis Colts. But the Saints have won three straight and Brees is known for having his bad days. For the line to be down to just a field goal given the disparity between these teams this season, perhaps the football betting oddsmakers know something more.
