San Diego Chargers Betting – Chargers Must Make Their Move In 2011
After years of coming up short when it mattered the most, San Diego head coach Norv Turner believes that this is the year that his team will finally get to where it has the talent to go. Of course, the only reason that Turner is still there is because of the lockout and the fact that ownership would not want to pay two coaches with the prospect of there not even being a season, but perhaps that is the extra sports betting bonus time that the coach needs to transform his team into a postseason force.
The Chargers will enter the 2011-12 season with one of the most explosive offenses in the league, particularly if they can re-sign Vincent Jackson. If Jackson moves on as a free agent, then the onus will be greater than ever on the shoulders of franchise quarterback Phillip Rivers, who has shown in stretches that he could rank among the elite signal-callers in the game one day. Ryan Matthews looked solid an online casino year ago and will come in stronger after gaining a year of experience, and if the offensive line can hold together then San Diego will roll.
There are question marks on the defense however, but there should be help on the way as the Chargers addressed that side of the ball in the draft this past April. San Diego didn’t stop there with the selection of cornerback Marcus Gilchrist in the second round and linebacker Jonas Mouton 11 picks after that. Mouton could start inside from day one, while the coaching staff will need to figure out whether Gilchrist is better suited to make the move to safety or not. With three picks in the top two rounds of the draft going to the defense, San Diego feels that it has addressed that side of the ball.
The schedule will be somewhat easier as well after the Chargers fell off a bit in 2010, although they won’t have the chance to avoid the New England Patriots as one of two teams the league will have them face that aren’t in the immediate matchups. San Diego will play the NFC North this season and that means winnable games against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions, and while they could see a couple of tough tests in the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, there own division is rebuilding and they will have every opportunity to attack. The Kansas City Chiefs were fortunate to win as many games as they did and are poised to take a step back, while the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos have yet to put the pieces together to form a legitimate contender. The AFC West will be wide open again in 2011, and it is time the Chargers put their stamp on it and more as they look to do big things this coming betting season.
