Seahawks vs Colts Odds - Hobbled Seahawks are hopeless on the road
There’s no real way around it: the Seahawks vs Colts odds could get ugly. Seattle is decimated by injury and stuck in a rut facing one strong passing offense after another. Now, the Seahawks go to Indianapolis, not only to face Peyton Manning but to probably start their backup quarterback against a tough pass defense. This could be an NFL betting rout.

Seahawks vs Colts odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
Many online sports betting sharps worried the Colts would stumble to start the season. After all, Peyton Manning lost Marvin Harrison and Anthony Gonzalez went down in the first quarter in Week 1. The defense was supposed to suffer with Bob Sanders out, too. Well, here we are in Week 4 and the Colts are 3-0. Manning hasn’t missed a beat, using Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark well and building a rapport with Pierre Garcon. The Colts’ run defense struggles without Bob Sanders but the pass defense has been excellent. Seattle’s story is about survival. With Walter Jones gone from the offensive line indefinitely and Matt Hasselbeck likely sitting again with a rib injury, can this team score enough to beat anyone?
Seahawks vs Colts odds maker breakdown: Offense
Indy’s passing game remains a well-oiled machine. Wayne and Clark catch anything thrown their way and Garcon has shown a surprising blend of speed and toughness. It would be nice if Indy got more out of Joseph Addai and Ronald Brown in the backfield, but so far it hasn’t really needed to. Julius Jones has given Seattle more than it bargained for so far this season and should be effective again against a porous Indy run defense...while Seattle is still in the game, which should be the duration of the first quarter. Eventually, once Seattle falls behind, it will have to pass. Backup quarterback Seneca Wallace is athletic but can’t stretch the field; he averaged just 5.9 yards per attempt last week. The Colts are twice the team the Seahawks are offensively. Betting Edge: Colts
Seahawks vs Colts odds maker breakdown: Defense
You wouldn’t think it looking at their rosters, but the Colts and Seahawks both crack the top five for fewest points allowed so far this season. Both teams should regress slightly as the season goes, especially Seattle, as it opened against St. Louis and San Francisco. Both teams have defended well against the pass, especially Seattle, whose front seven have nine sacks in three games. Indy has the superior “D” but will play without Bob Sanders and speed rusher Dwight Freeney this week, so neither team has a huge advantage. Betting Edge: Draw
Seahawks vs Colts odds for total: 44
The first instinct among sportsbook bettors is to expect a barnburner. Not so fast; the Colts can score a ton but they also don’t run up the score when they have a big lead. They get ahead and control the clock. The Seahawks won’t score much with Wallace running the offense and the Colts will score enough to win comfortably but nothing more. If Indy and Arizona combined for 41 points last week, it’s hard to imagine Indy and Seattle topping that number. Pick: Under 44
Seahawks vs Colts odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Both teams have significant injuries to overcome. The Colts’ two best defensive playmakers, Sanders and Freeney, are out this week. Anthony Gonzalez sits again too, though Garcon has filled his void admirably. The Seahawks play without their quarterback and best O-lineman in Walter Jones. Each team is equally miserable on the injury front. Betting Edge: Draw
Seahawks vs Colts betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
Manning is at the top of his game right now; it seems like he can pick apart any defense, and Seattle’s is no exception. Playing on the road without their quarterback, there’s no hope of an upset here. Pick the Colts and sleep easy. STAN’S PICK: Colts -10.5
