Seahawks vs Vikings Betting Odds - Vikings remain perfect at home, Seattle road woes continue
Minnesota is one of the sports betting favorites to win the NFC this year, and they’re excellent at protecting their homefield advantage. The Vikings will welcome struggling Seattle to town this weekend, and the Seahawks have yet to win on the road. With their injury problems on offense, it’ll be a major upset if they hold the explosive Vikings from covering the spread.

Seahawks vs Vikings betting odds maker breakdown: What’s On The Line
The Seahawks (3-6) have dropped three of their last four, and their three wins this year have come against the likes of Detroit, Jacksonville and St. Louis. The Vikings (8-1) are cruising towards their second straight NFC North crown, and this probably their easiest game for the rest of the way. Seattle’s season is essentially over, and many are wondering if Matt Hasselbeck should be shelved due to injuries.
Betting Edge: Vikings
Seahawks vs Vikings betting odds maker breakdown: Offense
That’s not to say Hasselbeck isn’t good, but rib problems and a sore shoulder are obviously taking a toll on him. The Seattle quarterback was 26-of-52 for 315 yards, a touchdown and two picks in their 31-20 loss at Arizona, and he could get seriously hurt. It doesn’t help that starting running back Julius Jones is battling a chest injury, even though Justin Forsett ran for 123 yards and a score against the Cardinals.
It’s like pick your poison against the Vikings, who are seventh in the league in offense. Do you try to stop Adrian Peterson, or the Brett Favre-Sidney Rice combination? Peterson ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-10 home win over Detroit, while Favre was 20-of-29 for 344 yards and a score, and Rice added seven catches for 201 yards. Favre is now the top-rated passer in the NFL, Peterson is second in rushing yards, and Rice is fourth in receiving yards. Good luck, Seattle.
Betting Edge: Vikings
Seahawks vs Vikings betting odds maker breakdown: Defense
The Seahawks failed to sack Kurt Warner even once against the Cardinals, which is a quick way to an easy online betting loss. Seattle especially struggles against a good passing game as they’re 20th in the league in aerial defense. Shutdown corner Marcus Trufant looks to be getting back to his best after a back injury sidelined him for the first part of the year, but there’s not much he can do without a pass rush. Defensive leader Lofa Tatupu has also been a huge loss.
The Vikings is 23rd against the pass, which is surprising when you consider that they lead the league in sacks. The injury to corner Antoine Winfield doesn’t help, either. However, Winfield is supposed to be back this week, which isn’t good news for Hasselbeck. They’re still one of the league’s best against the run, and they haven’t allowed a 100-yard rusher for 32 straight games.

Seahawks vs Vikings betting odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
Hasselbeck (ribs) and Jones (chest) played last week, but weren’t that effective, especially Jones. Tatupu’s (pectoral) was lost for the season three weeks ago, and center Chris Spencer (thumb) played through his injury.
Winfield (foot) has been out for three games, but it appears as though he’ll return this week. Receiver Bernard Berrian (hamstring) has been battling his leg injury for a month, which is the main reason that Rice has been getting so many looks from Favre.
Betting Edge: Vikings
Team vs Team betting odds for total: 46
Seattle has given up at least 27 points in three of their last four, and they still allowed 20 points against Detroit in Week 9. This offense is hit-and-miss, with Hasselbeck hobbling around. The Vikings are second in the league with 30.1 points, and they allowed 10 points to those same Lions last week. Also, the Minnesota pass defense should be better with Winfield back, but he may be a bit rusty in the beginning.
Pick: OVER
Seahawks vs Vikings betting breakdown: Outlook and Pick
These two have split four meetings since 2002, and their last meeting was in 2006, when the Vikings romped 31-13 in Seattle. This could get messy for the Seahawks, as the Vikings will rush Hasselbeck at every chance, so he should expect to see Jared Allen a lot on Sunday. Defensively, if Seattle isn’t going to blitz Favre, he’ll pick them apart, and the Seahawks also allowed 122 yards on the ground to Arizona, a team known for their inability to run the ball. Peterson should surpass that by himself this week. Combine that with Minnesota’s perfect home record, and Seattle’s winless road record, and you have an easy Minnesota win.
