Texan Colts Betting – Both Teams Well Rested For Rematch On Monday Night Football
Seven weeks after finally overcoming perhaps the biggest obstacle in their franchise history with a 34-24 win over their division rival in the season opener, the Houston Texans will look to make it two in a row against the Indianapolis Colts. Led by the fourth ranked rushing attack in the country, the Texans have faltered their way to 4-2 after a pair of wins to open the betting season, and will look to regain some consistency against the surging Colts.
- Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts
- Monday November 1. 2010 – 8:30 PM ET
- Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
- Broadcast: CBS
- Odds: Colts – 5.5
- Total: 49.5
For Indianapolis, it has been the exact opposite, as after starting the football betting season 2-2 the Colts have won consecutive games to pull into a tie with Texas for second place in the division. Little has changed over the years with the Colts, who still live and die by Peyton Manning and the vaunted Indianapolis pass offense.
What The Texans Will Have To Do To Win
The Texans’ two losses both came against NFC East opponents, so it may be a good thing that they’re playing within the division. Either way, they better get used to it, as half of their remaining ten games are against teams from the AFC South, including contests against both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. The Texans torched the Colts on the ground in the opener, and will have to re-commit to the running game early to establish their offense. If Houston can move the ball on the ground early, that will open things up for Matt Schaub and the passing game. Defensive end Mario Williams leads the charge to get pressure on Peyton Manning.
What The Colts Will Have To Do To Win
The method to winning is simple in Indianapolis. In four NFL betting wins this year, the Colts’ defense has allowed an average of 18.5 points. In two losses, they’ve allowed an average of 32.5, including 34 against the Texans. While they do rank second in moving the ball through the air, there is no disputing the fact that they have not done enough in games where there defense has let them down, which makes finding a way to shut down the Texans’ attack the key to getting the win. This is a tall order.
Outlook & Pick
This game should be a little different than the opener, especially considering that it will be played in Indianapolis, where the Colts are undefeated this betting on NFL season. Houston had never beaten the Colts before this season, doing it twice in the same year may be too much to ask. Expect Indianapolis to come out firing through the air early to take advantage of a weak Houston pass defense, and force the issue the same way that the Texans did on the ground in the opener.
NFL Betting Pick: Indianapolis – 5.5
