Titans vs Patriots odds maker breakdown: The Storyline
The Tennessee Titans are a disaster right now. At this point last year, they couldn’t lose a game. Now, they can’t seem to win a game. Reality has set in for Tennessee, and at 0-5, they just aren’t a very good team. At what point does the Vince Young debate come up? For the Patriots, they again played a close game and lost, which again stopped their winning momentum. A lot of people are waiting on this team to break out of their early season sluggishness, but at this point, you have to start wondering if this is who they are now. Look for them to get a big win this week and quiet that conversation for now. Betting Edge: Patriots
Titans vs Patriots odds maker breakdown: Offense
The Titans offense has been pathetic this season. The one-two punch of Chris Johnson and LenDale White, which was so strong last year, is a complete non-factor this year. On top of that, the passing game has been useless with Kerry Collins at the helm. Sportsbook odds makers know that outside of Chris Johnson, this offense is very thin on playmakers. For New England, they have the playmakers but they aren’t played well right now. Tom Brady’s mechanics have been off a little bit so far this season, and because of that, the Patriots haven’t been themselves. On top of that, Randy Moss is dealing with a bad back, and the offense still can’t run the ball. If Brady can straighten out, the offense will be fine, but otherwise this team might struggle all year. Betting Edge: Patriots
Titans vs Patriots odds maker breakdown: Defense
While the Titans offense is not what it used to be, the defense is also a shadow of its former self. The Titans have big problems in their secondary, where their top two starters are out. The Titans’ men up front on the defensive line haven’t been getting the job done, which means a secondary loaded with rookie starters will probably get exposed by Brady. New England’s defense has been decent this year, but nothing special. They are a solid unit but they struggle to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks, which has allowed enemy signal callers plenty of time to throw and make decisions. The Pats have 10 sacks on the year but just four in the last three weeks. Betting Edge: Even
Titans vs Patriots odds maker breakdown: Notable Injuries
The Titans secondary is in shambles right now and it looks like they’ll be without starting corner Cortland Finnegan, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. His opposite starter, Nick Harper, broke his arm and is out for a while. Safety Michael Griffin has a neck stinger and didn’t practice mid week, but may play. For New England, left tackle Matt Light looks like he’s going to miss this game. That’s a huge blow, as Light protects Brady’s blind side. Betting Edge: Patriots
Titans vs Patriots odds for total: 43
At this point, it’s hard to trust either team for points. The Patriots offense is out of sync a little bit, and while they will break out of their funk at some point, until we see it we can’t trust it. As for Tennessee, their offense has struggled all year, and on the road in New England isn’t where they will right the ship. Pick: Under 43
