The Lions are obviously looking to rebound, but they were destroyed by running back Mike Bell in Week 1 — meaning the Vikings' Adrian Peterson is going to embarrass them.

These teams are headed in different directions. Minnesota's Super Bowl aspirations got a nice shot in the arm thanks to an opening-day blowout of Cleveland. The Lions, meanwhile, seemed almost as hapless against New Orleans as they were during last year's 0-16 debacle. The Vikings must keep pace in the competitive NFC North while the Lions are simply trying to claw back to respectability.

Online betting fans were waiting with bated breath to see Brett Favre would perform as the team's new quarterback; they're still waiting this week as Favre was sparingly used, throwing just 21 passes and rarely testing the Browns downfield. Adrian Peterson carried the load and then some, racking up 180 yards and three scores. The Lions struggled mightily with the football, netting just 231 total yards. A significant improvement any time soon is unlikely, as rookie quarterback Matt Stafford (three interceptions, 27.4 quarterback rating) is learning on the fly.

The Lions surrendered 515 yards and 47 points to the Saints last week, though they did notch three takeaways. The Vikings were much more impressive, limiting Cleveland to less than 300 yards of offense and sacking Brady Quinn five times. There's no debating this one.

Dynamic rookie Percy Harvin could be a real weapon for Minnesota, and he averaged 33.0 yards per kickoff return against Cleveland. The Minny cover unit could use a little work, though, after Joshua Cribbs returned a punt 67 yards for a score. Detroit got an 87-yard kick return from rookie Aaron Brown last weekend, so it might have a special player there. The kicking games are fairly even.

Speedster Bernard Berrian is nursing a hamstring injury and was held catchless against the Browns; at least it gives Minnesota an excuse to keep working Harvin into the rotation. Besides Berrian, both teams are pretty healthy right now.

If it's not obvious by now, you probably shouldn't be betting in a sportsbook. Detroit is an awful team while the Vikings are building for a serious playoff push, maybe even a Super Bowl title. New Orleans' Mike Bell managed 143 yards at 5.1 per pop against the Lions last weekend—imagine what Adrian Peterson is going to do to them. This one is going to get ugly fast.
