Packers vs. Cowboys betting – Dallas heads to Lambeau Field to face Green Bay

Posted by Stan Simmons on 9/15/2009 9:06:52 AM

Bet sports online: Dallas getting three points on the road

WHAT: NFL Football Betting

WHO: Dallas Cowboys (-3) @ Green Bay Packers (+3)

WHEN: Sunday, September 21st at 8:15 PM ET

WHERE: Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin

THE PICK: Dallas Cowboys -3 NFL betting lines

NFL football betting sharps have watched two good weeks of football action and are well aware that Sunday night’s contest between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers is clearly a battle for NFC supremacy.

The Cowboys will be on a short week’s rest after outscoring the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football but online sportsbook odds still have them listed as a three-point favorite.

They have been a high-scoring unit, totaling 69 points in the first two weeks of the season against two teams that combined for 18 wins last year. Tony Romo and the offense have been humming while the defense – although they gave up 37 points to a playoff-caliber Eagles team on Monday night – has looked air tight as well. The addition of Pacman Jones into the secondary has been seamless.

The Cowboys will face the Packers in a rematch from last year’s classic in which the Cowboys dominated. They knocked Brett Favre out of the game and got their first taste of Aaron Rodgers when he stepped up to fill in. NFL football betting minds know that the Aaron Rodgers starting for the Packers on Sunday is a more confident leader than the Aaron Rodgers who was thrown into the fire at Texas Stadium last year.

Rodgers has been stellar in his first two NFL starts, completing 70 per cent of his passes and totaling five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Online sportsbook odds are still presenting plenty of value in the Packers’ favor just because the brand-name Favre isn’t around.

Had Favre been starting this game, the online sportsbooks would have Green Bay vs. Dallas lines closer to a pick but with the relatively green Rodgers, the Packers find themselves as the underdog.

Traditionally, the Cowboys don’t play so well as a road favorite of three points or less. They are 9-11 ATS in their last 20 contests in that situation but the Packers are only 3-3 in their last six games as a home underdog of three points or less.

The Cowboys are 9-2 straight up and 8-3 against the spread in the last 11 meetings and NFL football betting sharps are leaning towards the Cowboys already. After a huge offensive outburst on Monday night, online sportsbook bettors are willing to put more faith in the Cowboys rather than the Packers.

Green Bay squeaked by the 0-2 Minnesota Vikings to start the season and then trounced the listless Detroit Lions in Week Two. With Ryan Grant ailing and the Cowboys offense clicking, Dallas vs. Green Bay odds back the Cowboys for another win and cover.

STAN’S PICK: Dallas Cowboys -3
