NFL Odds - Dallas continues its playoff push

Posted by By Stan Simmons on 9/11/2009 7:36:09 AM

Online betting: NFL football

  • WHO: Seattle Seahawks (+13) at Dallas Cowboys (-13)
  • WHAT: NFL football betting
  • WHEN: Sunday, November 30 at 4:15 p.m. ET
  • WHERE: Cowboys Stadium, Dallas TX
  • KEY STATS: Dallas is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games when playing Seattle
  • PICK: Cowboys

Seahawks vs Cowboys betting may not be on the same level as it was then Seattle and Dallas met up in the 2006 NFC Wild Card game, however this game has plenty of implications as well. Granted, the majority of those implications are on the Cowboys’ side—unless you count another Seahawks step towards drafting Knowson Moreno or Chris Wells to be noteworthy for NFL football betting fans.

After starting the season as the Week 1 Super Bowl favorites on NFL betting lines, the Dallas Cowboys fell into some injury trouble. Star quarterback Tony Romo suffered a hand injury that left the ball in the not-so-sure, but healthy hands of Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger. The QB swap resulted in an embarrassing loss to the St. Louis Rams in Week 7, despite being heavily favored on NFL football odds. Two weeks later, the Cowboys fell to their divisional rival, the New York Giants, pushing them further down the NFC East standings.

However, Dallas comes in favored by thirteen points on Seahawks vs Cowboys lines after two consecutive wins with a healthy Romo at the helm. The Pro Bowler tossed for 341 yards last week in a 35-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Terrell Owens was on the receiving end of 212 of those passing yards, collecting a touchdown along the way.

Things haven’t been quite as rosy for the hapless Seahawks over the past two weeks—though they have improved slightly. After some ugly losses to start the season, Seattle managed to defeat fellow bottom-feeders St. Louis and San Francisco, however Mike Holmgren’s troops haven’t been able to manage a victory since four weeks ago against the ‘Niners. Seattle has managed to keep its past three losses to six points or less, covering the NFL football spreads each time.

Unfortunately, ‘America’s Team’ is a completely different animal, and the Seahawks’ undersized secondary of Marcus Trufant, Josh Wilson and Kelly Jennings will have their work cut out for them, covering lanky receivers such as Owens, Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton. Seattle might have to wait until Week 15 at St. Louis to put another tick in the win column.

STAN’S PICK: Cowboys

Those analyzing Seahawks vs Cowboys odds should be aware that Dallas is a superior football team, as evidenced by the hefty Seahawks vs Cowboys spread. Seattle simply does not have the offensive weapons, or the defensive capability to usurp Dallas on Sunday.

Dallas coach Wade Phillips will know exactly how to silence Seahawks running back, and former Cowboy, Julius Jones, which will force Seattle to rely on its miserable passing game. When making your Seahawks vs Cowboys pick, bet on Dallas.
