AT&T Odds - Tiger's tourney doesn't attract the stars
AT&T odds are posted for the tournament hosted by Tiger Woods, and it’s the third PGA Tour event sponsored by the communications giant AT&T. And while online betting handicappers can expect the biggest stars on the tour to be there, there won’t be much of a supporting cast, which could lead to a rather easy Woods win.
AT&T National odds: Woods a heavy favorite again
- Only 4 of top 12 golfers participating
- Furyk and Mahan hot heading to Congressional
- Woods should cut through easy field to win on his course
The AT&T odds list Tiger Woods as an overwhelming favorite, and the reason for that is because he won’t have much competition. Only three of the top 12 golfers in the World Golf Rankings will be participating outside of Woods (Paul Casey, Jim Furyk and Vijay Singh), which obviously eases Woods’ challenge.
The sportsbook lists Furyk and Mahan next on the AT&T National odds, and that makes sense as both golfers have played well recently. Mahan has been particularly close to winning several events with four Top 10’s this year, two of them coming in the last couple of weeks (T-6 at U.S. Open and T-4 at Travelers). Furyk has also played strongly as of late and he does fairly well on this course anyways. He has consecutive third place finishes in the last two years, which makes him worth a look on the AT&T National odds.
Golf betting pundits should take a look at Steve Marino, who has played well since shaving his head and ditching his putter at the Bay Hill Invitational. He’s been on fire – by his standards – finishing outside of the Top 20 just once in the last eight events prior to his cut last week. Marino had two solid rounds last year sandwiched around a rough Friday and Saturday, so maybe now he can put it all together.
Anthony Kim is the returning champion, but a quick glance at the AT&T odds show that he’s not expected to win. When Kim won his second PGA Tour event here last year, a lot of Vegas insiders felt that he had his coming-out party and would be among Woods’ biggest competitors in years to come. That has been far from the case as Kim has struggled mightily this year. Woods will have some competition this week from some of the hot golfers like Mahan and Furyk – and maybe even Glover – but this is his tournament and he should come out on top.

Marco Sussman isn't too bad on the links, reportedly a five handicap. But, he's great in the sports betting game. He'll watch just about anything you put in front of him, but golf is what really gets his juices flowing. Thoughts or questions? Email Comments@BetOnline.com.
