With Masters odds on the horizon, golf betting fans are gearing up for the most prestigious tournament of the year. Any golfer who has reached this stage has dreamed of walking Amen Corner at Augusta National Golf Club, which will host the 73rd edition of The Masters. Trevor Immelman is the defending winner in the first major of the PGA season, but all eyes will be on Tiger Woods, especially after his heroics at Bay Hill.
Masters odds: Tiger is ready to strike
- WHAT: The 73rd edition of The Masters
- WHEN: Thursday, April 9th to Sunday, April 12th
- WHERE: Augusta National Golf Club at Augusta, GA
- KEY STATS: Tiger Woods’ four Masters wins is tied for second all-time
- PICK: Tiger Woods
Woods is the favorite with Masters odds of +175 and, with a winning putt on the 18th hole at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, Tiger added yet another chapter to his legacy as he capped a five-stroke comeback against Sean O’Hair. Woods’ four Green Jackets ties him with Palmer for second place all-time, and one more would put him just one win behind Jack Nicklaus’ six Masters wins. Woods has finished runner-up in the last two years, and he has nine Top-10s in 14 trips to Augusta.
Phil Mickelson is next with Masters odds of +580 in your sportsbook, and he’s won two of his last three events ahead of this week’s start in the Shell Houston Open. Mickelson has two Green Jackets of his own, and his record at the Masters is pretty nice as well, as “Lefty” has 11 Top-10s in 16 visits to Augusta, including last year’s T-5.
Padraig Harrington took over the PGA in Woods’ absence last year, winning the British Open and PGA Championship. Harrington finished 11th at Bay Hill and has been playing better each week, and the Irishman has Masters odds of +1600. Harrington has a T-7 and a T-5 in his last two trips to Augusta, and he should prove a strong challenger for his first Green Jacket as he goes for his third straight major.
Masters betting fans have a few other options to consider. Geoff Ogilvy is at +1500, but he’s never finished higher than 16th in three Augusta visits, and he gets worse each time he plays there. Sergio Garcia has Master odds of +2000, but he’s missed the cut in three of his last starts at Augusta. Retief Goosen could be around on Sunday with sports betting lines of +2500, as last year’s T-17 was his lowest result since missing the cut in 2001, with four Top-5s along the way.
This could finally be the year we see a Tiger vs. Phil Sunday showdown in a major and, really, there isn’t any better place for it than Augusta, where both always play so well. However, don’t count out Harrington and Goosen, as Harrington is now battle-hardened for Sunday at a major, while Goosen’s putting on slick surfaces will definitely help him at Augusta.
MARCO’S PICK: Woods’ game all came together during the last round at Bay Hill and, if his putter is on, no one in the world is even close. Bet on Tiger Woods to win his fifth Green Jacket as the Masters betting favorite.

Marco Sussman isn't too bad on the links, reportedly a five handicap. But, he's great in the sports betting game. He'll watch just about anything you put in front of him, but golf is what really gets his juices flowing. Thoughts or questions?
