Golf betting fans won’t see very many big names on Zurich Classic odds this week. The last four winners, led by 2008 champion Andres Romero, aren’t household names, which means bettors will need all of their skill to make the right pick. Kenny Perry is the favorite, with Nick Watney and Steve Stricker close behind, but Woody Austin looks poised for a victory.
Kenny Perry is the favorite at +1200, and he’s returning after his collapse in the final round of The Masters. He finished T-23 here last year and, despite his Masters problems, Perry is still having a great season with six top-10s in 10 starts.
Steve Stricker always seems to be in the hunt and he has golf betting odds of +1600 this week after a sixth-place finish at The Masters. Stricker missed the cut here last year but, before that, he notched two straight top-25s in this event. The steady Stricker is ninth in putting and 14th in greens-in-regulation, which always gives him a chance.
Nick Watney is also listed at +1600 and he finished T-42 here last year after winning the 2007 event. Watney finished 19th at The Masters, and outside of a 59th-place result at Riviera, he hasn’t finished lower than 25th in nine events. Watney is doing this despite an inconsistent driver that’s left him 130th in driving accuracy.
There are a slew of players with sports betting lines of +3300, including K.J. Choi, who won this event in 2002, and last year’s winner, Romero. Woody Austin has two top-5s in the last three years at this event, while Mike Weir, Stephen Ames, Ian Poulter and Justin Rose bring international flavor to the field.
The TPC of Louisiana rewards accuracy and players can’t afford to go playing in the sand, as this course is one of the toughest to get up and down for a par once you land in the bunkers. Watney and Stricker will challenge, while Perry will grab a top-15.
MARCO’S PICK: Austin has been knocking on the door at this event for the last couple of years, and he finished 11th at the Verizon Heritage last week, his best finish of the season. Bet on Woody Austin on this weekend’s Zurich Classic odds.

Marco Sussman isn't too bad on the links, reportedly a five handicap. But, he's great in the sports betting game. He'll watch just about anything you put in front of him, but golf is what really gets his juices flowing. Thoughts or questions? Email Comments@BetOnline.com.
