Avalanche vs Devils odds - Brodeur ready to return
If you’re NHL betting and you’re a New Jersey fan, you’re probably quite excited to finally see the return of goalie Martin Brodeur on Thursday night, as the Devils welcome the Colorado Avalanche to town. Online betting fans should also throw their faith behind the Ottawa Senators when they host Western Conference leaders San Jose that evening, as the Sharks will be coming off a tough game in Detroit.
- NHL betting: 10 games to choose from on Thursday night
- Avalanche vs Devils odds: Brodeur making first start since November
- Sharks vs Sentators odds: Rising Sens host first-place Sharks
Avalanche vs Devils odds – 7:00 PM ET
The Devils have dropped two of their last three games, but a return by their future Hall-of-Fame goaltender could be the spark they need to get back on track. Brodeur hasn’t played since tearing his bicep on Nov, 1, and Scott Clemmensen has done a remarkable job in his absence, but putting Brodeur back in nets makes the Devils a legitimate Stanley Cup betting contender.
They will face a Colorado team mired in last place in the West. The Avs also need a solution in net—Peter Budaj and Andrew Raycroft have combined to allow the most goals in the West, and the Avalanche can’t afford to slack on the defensive end with injuries to Joe Sakic and Paul Statsny.
The Avalanche have won six and drawn one of its last 10 meetings with the Devils, but four of those wins came back when Patrick Roy roamed the Colorado crease, and their current tandem won’t make anyone mistake them for Roy. Bet on New Jersey to give Brodeur a triumphant return to action.
Sharks vs Senators odds – 7:30 PM ET
Coaching changes are generally made to spark the team, and the Senators have responded with six wins in 11 games since Corey Clouston took over. The Senators should be even more inspired when they see their captain, Daniel Alfredsson, shake off a broken jaw to join the team for their playoff push.
This will mark the third of a four-game road trip for the Sharks, who shut out Dallas 1-0 on Monday before heading to Detroit for a showdown with the Red Wings on Wednesday. The Sharks have won five and drawn one of their last 10 meetings with the Senators, who will be counting on Detroit to soften up San Jose. Look for the Senators to wear the Sharks down by the third period, so bet on Ottawa on Thursday.
