Canadiens vs Bruins odds – Boston will break the curse versus Habs

In the Canadiens vs Bruins odds, experts say history repeats itself. In the case of that rivalry, they’d be right so far; the Habs have already won three playoff series against the Bruins this decade and are 24-7 lifetime against Beantown. This year, though, it’s time to throw the past sportsbook record out the window. The Bruins are simply too big, strong and deep to lose to the Habs on sports betting lines.

Talk about an NHL betting flip-flop from last year. Entering last season’s Canadiens vs Bruins odds, Montreal was the No. 1 seed in the East and the city was bursting with optimism. The team was deep, fast and fairly young, with oodles of Habs supporters heralding Carey Price as the next Patrick Roy. However, unless they missed the playoffs, this season couldn’t have gone worse.
Price battled injuries and inconsistency. Sniper Alex Kovalev had a bad year in his alternating good year/bad year cycle. Andrei Markov is nursing an injury and the team battled too many off-ice issues to count. Long story short: the Habs are banged up and mentally exhausted.
Now, they travel to face a No. 1 seed that has enough size and strength to make the toughest of teams wilt. How bad could things get when they face a Habs team that already seems broken? The Bruins’ offense blends great size—Milan Lucic, Michael Ryder and Blake Wheeler—with speed and finesse through Phil Kessel and Marc Savard. The forwards should give the Habs’ defense fits.
The Bruins’ blueline, led by Norris Trophy candidate Zdeno Chara, dwarves Montreal’s smallish forward group and should inflict pain on anyone who enters the Boston zone.
In goal, Tim Thomas looks like the frontrunner for the Vezina Trophy this season but remains unproven in the playoffs. If he can remotely approach his regular-season performance, the Bruins could go a long way on Stanley Cup odds.
DON’S PICK: For once, there’s no “trick” or loophole in the Canadiens vs Bruins odds. Tiny, mentally weak team, we’d like you to meet big, strong, cohesive team that pummeled you five times this year. The Habs will eke out a win or two, probably at home, but the Bruins will manhandle the Habs. Bet on the Boston Bruins.
