Canadiens vs Rangers odds – battle will determine playoff spots
Canadiens vs Rangers odds have massive playoff importance on Tuesday night, as both teams are trying to cling to a spot in the postseason. Montreal, New York and Florida are duking it out for the seventh and eighth spots, so somebody is going to be on the outside looking in.
Can the Habs keep their hot streak going or will the Big Apple rebound for a win?
Canadiens vs Rangers odds: Tuesday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET
- Montreal finally getting it going
- Rangers struggling down the stretch
- Habs won two of three vs. Rangers this year
Montreal has experienced an absolutely bizarre season rife with centennial celebrations, tremendous expectations, off-the-ice incidents with local gangsters, the firing of their head coach—the list goes on and on. Many NHL betting fans expected the team to win the Eastern Conference, but it’s now battling just to make the playoffs.
Finally, in the past few weeks, the Habs are showing signs of life, winning three straight. That makes it five wins in their past six games, while picking up points in all six. That snapped a five-game skid for Montreal and the recent winning streak has been very impressive; the Canadiens have pummeled their last three opponents by a collective score of 15-4.
Meanwhile, the Rangers have dropped two in a row and four of their last five. All for losses came on the road, so New York can at least be thankful two of its last three games come at Madison Square Garden. The offense has been very lame over the past two games, scoring just two goals. New York features a balanced attack, with Nikolai Zherdev, Chris Drury, Markus Naslund and Ryan Callahan each potting at least 20 goals; all of them need to step up their play during this critical stretch.
Montreal has won two of the three matchups between these teams this season, with the loss coming in a shootout. The Rangers do have home ice going for them, having won six straight at MSG. Still, the Canadiens were expected to contend on Stanley Cup odds this year, and it appears they’ve finally figured things out. Montreal is hot and New York is not—bet on the Canadiens.
