Thursday NHL playoff betting – Flyers, Blue Jackets face elimination
Thursday night’s NHL Blue Jackets have scored just two goals in the entire series
Flyers vs Penguins odds: Game 5, Thursday, 7:05 p.m. ET at Mellon Arena
NHL lines: Penguins -220, Flyers +180
The Philadelphia Flyers threw everything they had at Marc-Andre Fleury and the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4, which begs the question: What’s left for them to do in Game 5? The Flyers took 46 shots on Fleury and went 0-for-8 on the power play, so don’t be surprised if they look like a very demoralized team on Thursday night.
In their 32-year franchise history, the Flyers are 0-13 when trailing 3-1 in a series. Don’t expect the Flyers to be advancing and bet on Pittsburgh.
Red Wings vs Blue Jackets odds: Game 4, Thursday, 7:05 p.m. ET at Nationwide Arena
NHL lines: Red Wings -210, Blue Jackets +175
Similar to the Flyers, the Blue Jackets are searching for answers right now as the young franchise can’t seem to solve the Detroit Red Wings’ defense. The Blue Jackets have scored just two goals in three games so far and their second goal was an insignificant power play goal by R.J. Umberger with 3:53 remaining in Game 3.
The Red Wings have played a lot of hockey over the last year and a half and the defending champs would like to put a quick end to this series so they can have some time off. The Blue Jackets will be desperate but bet on the Red Wings to win after weathering the original storm.
Hurricanes vs Devils odds: Game 5, Thursday, 7:35 p.m. ET at the Prudential Center
NHL lines: Devils -150, Hurricanes +130
The most entertaining series of the first round of the NHL playoffs continues as the Hurricanes and Devils head back to New Jersey. NHL betting fans have been thrilled with the on-ice excitement in this series, which is tied 2-2. All eyes will be on the Devils to see how they respond after allowing the game-winning goal to Jussi Jokinen with less than three seconds remaining in Game 4.
It’s now a best-of-three series but the key will be for the Devils to score three goals. Although they lost their last contest 4-3, they are 10-1 in their last 11 games when scoring three or more goals. Bet on a Devils win at home.
Sharks vs Ducks odds: Game 4, Thursday, 10:35 p.m. ET at the Honda Center
NHL lines: Sharks -145, Ducks +125
The San Jose Sharks are back in the series with the Anaheim Ducks after waking from a power play slumber. After going 0-for-12 in their first 12 opportunities in the series, the Sharks were 2-for-3 in Game 3, which eventually led to their first win of the postseason.
The Ducks penalty killing finished 23rd in the regular season and the Sharks need to continue to exploiting their power play opportunities. As it has been so far, special teams will dictate the winner in this series. Bet on San Jose to even the series in a close win.
