Bet On NHL – NHL Betting Rundown For May 5th
Boston Bruins @ Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers have been battling from behind all series long and now they are back at home, where they are 2-0 this postseason, to try and dig out of an 0-2 deficit.
Not only have the Flyers been trailing in the series the entire time, they have yet to hold a lead in either Games 1 or 2 either. In both contests, the Bruins scored a late, dramatic goal to get the leg up on the Flyers and put the pressure on them.
The Flyers are 7-20 all-time when losing Game 2 and 2-12 when losing Games 1 and 2, which is very bad news for them. They haven’t really found a way to figure out the Bruins and they haven’t been quite as hungry.
Goal scoring has been a bit of an issue for Philadelphia and that was expected. Without Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne, they have struggled to find the back of the net.
But at home, they are going to come out with a lot of fire and take an early lead. They absolutely have to have Game 3 – and even Game 4 – if they want any hope of winning this series.
Dan Carcillo and Marc Savard got into a skirmish and that should definitely fire up the Flyers even more. They have to be hungrier in Game 3 and they will be.
NHL Betting Pick: Flyers -160
Chicago Blackhawks @ Vancouver Canucks
The Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks have battled through the first two contests to earn a split. Now the burden is on the Canucks to keep the home ice advantage that they stole and figure out a way to close out the Blackhawks in six games or less.
The Canucks might be a little sour after online betting fans saw them blow a 2-0 lead to the Blackhawks in Game 2. A 2-0 series lead could have almost certainly sealed the series early on but now at 1-1, the Blackhawks are very much still in in.
The sportsbook odds makers are cautious, though, as the Blackhawks have looked sluggish all playoffs long. The general concern is whether the Blackhawks are going through what the Canucks went through last year, which is just an inability to deal with the expectations.
Look for the Canucks to continue their dominance as they truly have dominated for all but one period in this series. They’ll manage to take a 2-1 series lead and keep the heat on the Blackhawks.
