Internet NHL Betting – The NHL Standings They Are A-Changin’
If your sports betting interests revolve around the NHL, then betting on March Madness may not be foremost on your mind as the NHL playoffs approach. Even if your favorite team made some moves at the sportsbook promo NHL trade deadline, you may have had to watch your team fall out of a playoff spot this weekend. The NHL standings near the eighth and final playoff spot in each conference are getting congested and teams are making their final push for a playoff spot.
Sabres Penguins Betting – Tuesday, 7:00 PM ET
Ever since new owner Terry Pegula took over in Buffalo, the Sabres are 5-0-2. That means that Buffalo has yet to lose in regulation. The mystery in goal for the Sabres continues as Ryan Miller beat the Philadelphia Flyers over the weekend, but the next day Jonas Enroth was brought up from Portland to start against the Minnesota Wild with Patrick Lalime backing him up. Miller was not on the bench. The Penguins keep sinking lower and lower without Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. In the last 10 games the Penguins are 3-3-4. But a win over the Sabres will push the Penguins into a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference. This will be a tight game but, with all of their recent success, the Sabres are still not quite ready for prime time.
Bruins Canadiens Betting – Tuesday, 7:30 PM ET
The Canadiens keep slipping and then catching themselves all season long. Right now, Montreal is 6-3-1 in its last 10 games which includes a 4-game losing streak. This after dropping almost to seventh place in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins want to keep some distance in the Northeast division between themselves and the second-place Canadiens. Boston is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games with both Tuukka Rask and Tim Thomas playing exceptionally well in goal. This should be a Bruins’ night in Montreal.
Avalanche Wild Betting – Tuesday, 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild did not help their playoff chances with their recent loss to the Buffalo Sabres in Minnesota. The Wild still trail eighth place Los Angeles by one point, and the Kings have not been playing well of late which makes them vulnerable. The Avalanche is 1-7-2 in its last 10 games, and could be just the tonic that the ailing Wild need. The hometown Minnesota fans do not want to go away empty again, and the Wild should be able to prevent that this time.
Predators Sharks Betting – Tuesday, 10:00 PM ET
You can just hear the sigh of relief coming from San Jose as the Sharks finally got their ship turned around. Antti Niemi became the goalie the Sharks thought he could be so, in return, the Sharks signed Niemi to a long-term deal. San Jose is 8-2-0 in its last 10 games and cruising towards the playoffs. The Nashville Predators sit only one point out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference, but its 3-5-2 record in the last 10 games do not show a team that is desperate to put a streak together. The Sharks should be able to take a big bite out of Nashvilles’ playoff plans.
Thrashers Hurricanes Betting – Wednesday, 7:00 PM ET
The Atlanta Thrashers will just not go away. The Thrashers needed a win over the weekend to avoid getting passed by the New Jersey Devils for 11th in the Eastern Conference, and they did it. The Thrashers sit only five points out of a playoff spot, but they will need to show even more desperation to get there. The Hurricanes were recently knocked out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference by the Buffalo Sabres. Carolina keeps following a win one/lose one pattern that will cause them to fall even further in the standings. The Thrashers will surprise the Hurricanes and keep Carolina tumbling.
