Preakness champ Rachel Alexandra breezed an easy half-mile today over a sloppy and sealed Churchill Downs main oval. Her connections have yet to make a decision regarding her participation in Belmont Stakes odds. She was timed in 50.20 seconds for her first work since The Preakness.

About two hours later, Derby Champ and Preakness runner-up Mine That Bird also worked a leisurely half-mile under the Twin Spires, and was timed in 51 seconds. His team will wait until jockey Calvin Borel’s availability becomes clear before naming a rider for The Belmont.

Of the new shooters, Charitable Man should pose the main threat. He’s coming off an impressive 3 ¾-length score in The Peter Pan at Belmont Park.

In action over the weekend, the 5YO mare Zenyatta extended her unbeaten streak to 10 with an impressive 1 ¾-length score in The Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park. She returned $2.40 as the 1-5 favorite, and keyed a $3.20 exacta with stablemate Life Is Sweet.

Stay tuned for future updates on Belmont odds, as well as other major stakes action in the world of thoroughbred horse racing betting.
