Bet On Saratoga – Curlin Revisited
Two-time Horse of the Year will be honored Friday at Saratoga with a race in his name and it’s fitting that he won his only start at Saratoga with a 112 Beyer taking the Grade 1 Woodward in the summer of 2008.
Online horse betting players get to examine a sweet contentious group of 7 in the $75,000 9-furlong stakes so let’s look at them from the rail out and attempt to sniff out an action play.
Bold Warrior looms the speed of the speed and may be long gone. He was scheduled to breeze 7 furlongs a week ago but tossed his rider so he worked on Sunday and worked very well.
The colt showed talent from Day One and place horse in the maiden breaker cashed in a MSW with a 71 Beyer next out. This runner is bred to be any kind as he is out of champion and over $1.4 million earner Hollywood Wildcat and is kin to BC Mile winner and over $1.1 million earner War Chant. He just may prove to be an elusive proposition.
This race is for those that have not won a Graded stakes over a mile this year and Prime Cut fits the conditions the best of anybody in the cast.
The winner of this race last year, Winslow Homer, had won a G3 at a mile and was coming off a distant third in an 8 and a half-furlong G3 at Prairie Meadows.
Sports betting players could easily see him sitting a nice stalk and pounce trip.
Never easy to win a stakes right after graduating by Raison d’Etat is bred to be a star. The place horse in his debut has passed the N1X level since and was a good third beaten just over 3 in the G2 Dwyer on July 2.
Class comes from dam that won multiple G1s and banked over $2.4 million, as the future is bright for this sharp soph.
Turbo Compressor got some Graded experience last time but is hooking more speed here. He ran well in his other stakes attempt and the winner of that stakes at Tampa took a $75K Calder stakes next out, and then was DQ'ed to 6th in a $69K stakes there in June. Just not sure the race sets up all that great for him.
Point of Entry is an interesting play. His connections are patient and the feeling is we have not seen the best of him to date. The blood is there too as he is kin to multiple G1 winner and over $650K earner Pine Island and the shorter trip could be just what the good doctor ordered.
Will’s Wildcat may have to run the race of his life to cash while the horse on the outside, Golden Gulch, is seeking to turn the hat trick.
Once Gulch was given the opportunity to go long, he has thrived. Professional in the win last time and he was boosted when the show horse that day cashed last Sunday at Ellis in a N1X event with a 92 Beyer.
If you’re betting horses, here is how it just may play out. Bold Warrior will gun and try to take advantage of the quick run to the first turn at this distance with Will’s Wildcat and Turbo Compressor in hot pursuit.
That pair will start to wilt at the top of the lane and that is when Point of Entry and Raison d’Etat begin to rally as a team.
By that time it may be too late as Warrior will prove to be just that as he has a solid shot to hold off that pair at the wire.
Key the Warrior on top with both Point of Entry and Raison d’Etat.
