Horse Racing Betting - Live picks in pair of weekend Grade 1's
- Who: Thoroughbreds – Livin Lovin, Whatsthescript
- What: Horse Racing Handicapping – The Coaching Club American Oaks, The Eddie Read Handicap
- Where: Belmont Park, Del Mar
- When: Saturday, July 24th
The Grade 1 spotlight this weekend in the racebook will be shared by the three-year-old fillies at Belmont Park and a salty group of older turf campaigners where the surf meets the turf - at Del Mar.
The Coaching Club American Oaks will not include division leader Rachel Alexandra, and that’s just fine with the connections of the eight entrants. #1-Livin Lovin, trained by Steve Klesaris, was withdrawn from a pair of stakes at Delaware Park last weekend in order to run here. She raced well to finish fourth in her three-year-old debut last out, but couldn’t overcome a slow break and a wide trip. She’s trained beautifully in the interim, and should be tough to deny if you're sports betting online. I’ll bet her to win at odds of 2-1 or better.
In The Eddie Read, I’ll bet on the “horse-for-the-course”, which is #8-Whatsthescript. He has failed as the favorite in his last three starts, but loves this course, and should rebound. His record here is 2-1-1-0, which includes a second-place finish in this race last year, and a win in The Del Mar Mile Handicap, in which he posted a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 107. I’ll take him to win at odds of 5-2 or better.
I’m hopeful that this little bit of horse racing betting handicapping puts a few bucks in your pockets as well as mine this weekend. Happy gambling!
