Saturday’s Lane’s End Stakes at Turfway Park may not produce a Kentucky Derby favorite, but let’s see if we can get it to produce a winning superfecta ticket from the racebook. Featuring a wide-open race with a field of 12, and a huge weekend crowd on hand, this Saturday’s super should be exactly that…super!

We’ll start with the top slot in the Superfecta. It appears that both Bittel Road and West Side Bernie are a notch above the rest of the competition, so we’ll use both in the top slot. Bittel Road has kept great company out West, and been competitive; meanwhile, West Side Bernie already owns a Grade 3 win over the track (as a 2YO). One of these two should get the job done at a fair price…in the 5-2 range.
As we progress through the ticket, note that we’ll repeat every horse bet in subsequent slots. So, in addition to the top two (#2-Bittle Road and #4-West Side Bernie), we’ll use # 1-Hold Me Back, #6-Parade Clown, #8-Orthodox, #10-Flying Pirate and #12 Proceed Bee, in the second and third slots.
In the fourth slot, we’ll add #3-A. P. Cardinal, #5-Jack Spratt, #7-Bruce N Autumn and #9-Loch Dubh. You’ll notice that rather than hit the “All” button in the fourth slot, we left out #11-Dynamite Bob. I don’t know what he’s doing in the race, and I can’t picture him clunking up into fourth under any circumstances. If he does, that knocks me out. Throw him in if it makes you feel better.
There you go…the ticket looks like this:

A $1 ticket will cost $480. Since this is a $.10 superfecta, you can get in for as little as $48. It might sound like a lot, but watch what happens if we get a few bombs in the mix!
