Online Belmont Stakes Betting - The Final Jewel
Late last week Animal Kingdom was confirmed a starter for the mile and a half 2011 Belmont Stakes betting this Saturday while the Preakness winner Shackleford is aiming to head to New York in the next couple of days and the final sports betting Belmont decision will be made then.
Kingdom’s trainer Graham Motion had this to say to Bloodhorse: “We just made the decision that he will be coming to the Belmont. He bounced out of the Preakness very well and we are looking forward to running in the Belmont Stakes. He will probably come to Belmont Park the week leading up to race, depending on where we decide to have his final workout.”
Considering the patience that Motion is known for, just the fact this runner will go speaks volumes.
The truth of the matter is that Animal Kingdom has nothing else to prove and his career at stud is already solidified as far as his class.
Nehro is likely for the sportsbetting bonus Belmont after he passed on the festivities in Baltimore. He has only won one race, but has put in three bang-up efforts since that win.
He just missed getting up in both the Louisiana Derby and the Arkansas Derby and was right there at the top of the lane on the first Saturday in May before being inhaled by Kingdom.
Master of Houunds, 5th in the Kentucky Derby, was 15th early on at Churchill but continued to close picking up 2 lengths in the stretch despite racing in traffic.
This guy should adore the demanding distance of the Belmont.
Alternation has a home court thing going on, as he is fresh from posting a 94 Beyer when winning the Grade 2 Peter Pan.
The colt has only raced poorly once and he was off slowly that day.
The Blue Grass winner Brilliant Speed will likely be back for more this weekend but he was all out in that slowly run race and he is out to prove the 19-1 score was no fluke.
Harlan’s Hello appears to be overmatched as he was fully extended by a nose to take a $75,000 optional in the May finale while Isn’t He perfect has been double digits in his last three race and is looking at the same fate if he shows in the Belmont.
Monzon will need a complete turn around after basically just running around the track in the Preakness.
Mucho Macho Man has a shot to improve. He was in a bit tight in the Preakness, has trained well at Belmont since, and he has much more speed than he has flashed in the latest efforts.
Ruler on Ice will be out to make amends for his flop as chalk in the Tesio at Pimlico. He was agile enough to overcome trouble to graduate and he was getting to the winner late when third in the 9-furlong Sunland Derby.
Santiva is in the good hands of Eddie Kenneally but he has gone the other way since a solid second in the Risen Star in his 2011 debut.
Stay Thirsty added the blinkers after his Gotham success but he has been extremely dull since and will need a break out performance.
One thing bettors have to realize is that Belmont is not the easiest track to negotiate and it would be a plus to have a rider Saturday that is used to the surface.
Consider what Kent Desormeaux had to say about riding in the Belmont Stakes, Kent: “It’s such and enormous circumference that even the horses get lost. Horses that usually fall into a turn and kick, that are schooled to do that, usually come up empty at the 8th pole because when you fall into a turn here, you’re five-eighths of a mile from the finish.”
