Horse racing odds - Presious Passion strikes again
Presious Passion just continues to amaze. Coming off a three-month freshening, his connections were using Saturday’s Monmouth Stakes as a prep for the Grade 1 United Nations Stakes on July 4.
As he did in the Grade 2 Mac Diarmida at Gulfstream Park last February, Presious Passion set blazing early fractions to establish a huge lead on the backstretch and come through for racebook fans.
Horse racing odds: Presious Passion keeps his winning ways alive
- WHO: Presious Passion, Indian Blessing, Einstein, Seattle Smooth and others
- WHAT: The Monmouth, The Desert Stormer and other stakes action
- WHERE: Monmouth Park, Hollywood Park, Churchill Downs, Belmont Park
- WHEN: Saturday, June 13
This time, Presious Passion relinquished the lead on the far turn to the favored Proudinsky, but he fought back in the home stretch to recapture the lead and hold off the fast-closing Banrock to win by a nose. He paid $14.80 to win. Incredible!
Another horse racing result of note occurred in Sunday’s Desert Stormer Handicap at Hollywood Park. 2007 Juvenile Filly Champ Indian Blessing finished fourth at odds of 1-2, creating a bonanza for show bettors. The victorious Coco Belle paid $18.60 to win, $7.60 to place and $37.60 to show! Second-place finisher Silver Swallow paid $8.20 to place and $40.60 to show! She’s Cheeky, sent off at odds of $14.50-1, returned a whopping $43.60 for show! It’s common knowledge that Indian Blessing is not as effective on poly-track surfaces and she’s never raced on Hollywood Park’s main track. Astute bettors can pick a spot like this to bet against the favorite to hit the board… and they’re handsomely rewarded for their play.
In other horse racing betting, Seattle Smooth knocked off the favored Godolphin/Darley entry of Seventh Street (second), Sea Chanter (third) and Music Note (fifth) to capture the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap at Belmont Park. It was Seattle Smooth’s first Grade 1 score and her fifth straight victory. My exacta play of the entry over Color Me Up (finished sixth at $15.30-1) went up in smoke.
In the Stephen Foster Handicap (G1) at Churchill Downs, Macho Again surged to the lead with a furlong to go and held on for a one-length victory over Asiatic Boy. Einstein, the 6-5 favorite, finished a nose back in third after a nightmare trip. I had no action on the race, as Einstein failed to meet my minimum odds requirement of 3-2. Interestingly, in Macho Again’s last four wins, he’s returned juicy prices of $17.40, $23.60, $18.40 and $14.20 to his backers.
I’ll be back on Friday with a preview of the weekend stakes action. Until then, happy online betting!
